Re: Cataract Operation at Hua Hin Hospital

The nurse then put a black thing with loads of holes (I called it the pepper pot) into the thing I was looking through, and she told me to try again. Amazing, I could now see perfectly. I’d never come across this before. The first time I did that test, I couldn't believe it. Apparently it gets rid ...

Re: The Recommended Movies Thread

It was officially released yesterday but already on HDPrime and I've downloaded it from YTS. 8.9 rating on IMDB and a huge list of stars. It certainly looks good if you're into superheroes. I've not watched it yet, mainly because it's just over FOUR HOURS long. I will schedule some time in my life t...

Re: Major companies/industries in Thailand that may not survive Covid-19

The price of imported goods certainly. Locally produced products will maintain their price in thai baht with maybe a small rise but to expats on foreign income, the price difference could be substantial. I was here before and after the crash. Before the crash I was getting around 38 to the pound. Af...

risk facing a financial crisis like in 1997.
As a selfish expat, that would fare good for those of us living on foreign currency.

Meanwhile the GBP to THB hits 43, the highest since the middle of 2018.

Re: Buying a new laptop

Of course not every laptop coming off the production line is going to be perfect. Prior to that I had a Lenovo and I had nothing but trouble. Maybe just unlucky.

However, myself and 2 daughters all have an Acer, all bought at the same time so they're pretty old now and still working fine.

Re: Buying a new laptop

I have an Acer that is at least 7 years old and it's never been in the shop except for some software upgrades. That's why I was after another acer because of it's reliability.

Re: The scourge of the yellow spots

A quick google produced this: So, what are those yellow-gold dots? Simply put, it's bee poop. Yes, bees poop and with the 2019 super bloom upon us, you'll find these yellow-gold dots on pretty much everything. These droppings are incredibly sticky and difficult to remove, even a regular scrub can le...

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

I must admit, I couldn't warm to Top Gear after the departure of the 3 goons, Clarkson, May and Hammond. The last time I watched was when Chris Evans was hosting. He was awful.

I'll watch this 30th season (which is only 4 episodes) and see if I've changed my mind.

Re: Govt, China envoy discuss arms maintenance depot

But this is not a military base is it?
to develop a maintenance facility for equipment and weaponry imported from China.
Of course, this could be the thin end of a wedge, but still a long way from being a military base.

Re: British Bacon

Back bacon seems to be the most popular. I find lean back is better for sandwiches and as part of a 'full English'. Streaky will crisp better than other cuts and is the best choice for 'pigs in blankets'. I often crisp up a plate of streaky to eat as a finger snack. As a main part of the meal, you c...

Re: Govt approves 120km/h speed limit

The rules were written by some government lackey tasked with the job and was probably a copy, translate and paste job. Correct. They were/are a copy of the UK regulations. I found the admission some time ago. Nothing to be ashamed of I might add. Why invent the wheel when there's a perfectly good o...
