Steak and Kidney
I use the backroad to get to 102....left at the railway station, left at the dogleg railway crossing, then follow the red earth road......some bits are ok, with a less broken paved surface, and some are just pothole and gravel filled dirttrack....all in all a road only used in dry weather, or if yo...

Soi 102
The road aside though, it is a good location, although I wish there was a 'back way' into it from one of the other parallel sois nearer town so that you don't have to drive (in a car) almost to Khao Takiab to get to the u-turn! They could do with widening the entrance to the road from Phetkasem as ...

Re: English Pies and Cakes
Hi Khundon - I remember your wifes' shop on Naebkehardt well and used it often. Didn't realise she had a farang husband at the time, but her products were IMO excellent and very good value. I was sorry to see that it had gone when I had a wander down there last year. I was also surprised to see an ...

Best and worst.
Hi Den the best things I found were; Small enough that you can walk around bars, restuarants, and to the beach. Most of the Farangs are decent guys. Lots of other things to do, besides get pissed and wake up in the gutter. House prices are not as silly as other areas in Thailand. Worst things; iv'e...

Roads
Don't complain -this is GOOD news for HH -most of us will benefit from it in the long run, if not in the short... I'm not sure if this is good news for the people who live here but I would very much like to hear what you have in mind elem. If the meeting will generate better roads and a slightly be...

Ive always been surprised at the almost complete lack of "educational" TV in Thailand......other than syndicated Discovery Channel stuff there's nothing about.... no wonder Thais have skewed perceptions about the outside world. Its not like theres not an audience....the nippers watch Disc...

Pies & Cakes.
Hi Paderborn :D Thanks for your post. Yes Soi 102 has changed with loads more houses etc going up, so should be a good place to trade. The family bought several plots in 2000 after my wife and I did a tour of HH land sites in 1999-2000. When they were building the new shops, a friend rang me in Uk ...

colds
When I feel a cold coming on, runny nose etc, I dose myself up with loads of fresh orange juice or Kiwi fruit just, 3 glasses a day, I find it helps and symptoms only last a day or 2 not the 7 days a cold usually runs for.
Be carefull though as too much will give you the runs.

Cleaned the attic out the other night with the wife
Dirty, smelly, covered in cobwebs, but she's good to the kids.

Hi Khundon1975, Only joking because all of a sudden dozens of months old posts were activated. But that is good because apparently there still IS a rat problem for instance and now it is taken care of again! So welcome to the forum. And Mods I can assure that Mr. Khundon did NOT pay me any money to...

Baps
Hi Don, Thanks for the recipe but unfortunately I don't have any kind of oven (Thai style kitchen), and I'm a lazy bugger anyway! Will pass on to a friend who's a great cook though - maybe she can rustle something up. Thanks again. "She" the wife, added after I posted to you, :cuss: "...

Bread Flour and Yeast
Hi again Heebio Sorry I was writing my last (Bap Receip) post to you before I saw your last post. Yes there are 2 main problems with making and selling good bread products in Thailand, good yeast and good flour. There is I believe an American company in BKK who imports and sells a lots of these typ...

Baps
Hi again Heebio  I just spoke to my wife and mentioned "Baps" to her, straight away she reeled off the following info. Make your bread dough with a good white bread flour (not a Strong white flour but just normal white bread flour and good yeast) let it stand in a bowl covered with ...
