Re: Water supplies to residential areas

If you want to live in Thailand, then you need to make it your business to know the real costs of things and also learn to speak some Thai. It frustrated me when I first came here but the problem went away when I learnt to speak basic Thai. They straight away dont mess with you because they assume t...

Re: thai bars

Takiap, you are sure that basically all Thai men do not carry guns?? Well I am certain that you are wrong. The percentage is much higher in rural areas and it is probably around 50 percent. My point is that I always tell myself to never get into any conflict with Thai people because when they get an...

Re: thai bars

So you disagree with my statement that a high percentage of thai men have guns in their cars? Thai men are volatile when they are drinking and to hang out with them is more dangerous than hanging out in farang bars. 21 years of living here and I have heard of many shootings but very rarely Thais sho...

Re: thai bars

The farang bars in Hua Hin are relatively safe and you very rarely see trouble. Any farangs that are new to Thailand need to be aware that a very high percentage of Thai men keep a gun in their cars and they are not scared to get them out when they are angry, drunk or on drugs. There are many shooti...

Re: Anyone know a good lawyer for property advice?

Chavalit and Partners are fine for legal advice. Jane does work with a Thai lawyer. For anyone who is thinking of buying a property, be very careful and cautious and spend the money on legal help. Going to court here in Thailand is verging on futile and would be a horrible way to spend the start of ...

Re: Resale Villas on Palm Hills? Comments and advice

Very difficult to sell a house that is on the market for more than 20 million baht. Of course foreigners cannot own land either so you have to do a 30 year lease or put it in a Thai's name. Houses that are 5 million or less are much easier to sell. Very good advice to rent a house, especially if you...

Re: Yet another dead tourist on Koh Tao

Very sad. If you read her story she talks about mixing her antibiotics with alcohol and valium. That is not natural causes! You dont die of chest infections and many people have suffered from that same bug over the last few months in Thailand. There needs to be more education about the dangers of mi...

Re: Expat Restaurants

There are so many great Thai restaurants in Hua Hin. Just drive about and look for the busiest restaurants, where the Thai people go. Certainly help if you have a Thai person to guide you but even if you don't, you can still go in and see how you get on. 2 of my favourites are Makam and Nong Mei. Ve...

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains

Just been checking out the Norwegian web site. They have excellent fares between Bangkok and Oslo. One way economy fares are often below 200 pounds, yes you have to pay extra for food and drinks but they offer free wi fi on their long haul flights. You can get very cheap connections on to airports a...

Re: Minibus or bus HH to Bkk?

Minibuses are very crammed. Only enough legroom if you are very small. Tend to drive very fast and scared me so much that I never took one again. Do yourself a favour and take the airport bus and then the rail link into the city. Airport bus is perfect with a large business class seat and I always g...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Community

Musungu, what is wrong with a course that has 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's.? Sounds interesting and sensible to me. I have heard so many strange views on courses that dont fit the norm of being 7000 plus yards, par 72 etc. Cypress Point is probably one of the best courses in the world but is v...

Re: Golfing around Prachaup - looking to join up

I dont think Thanarat has ever been in good condition. Father, you need to go and enjoy some of the good golf courses in the area. If you dont want to pay the high green fees of the local courses then you should arrange a day trip to play Dragon Hills or Royal Ratchaburi with some other keen golfers...

Re: What visa to manage a beach wear shop in Hua Hin?

Corbin, as I am sure you now realise, they can be a negative bunch on this forum. Go for it and see if it works and I can understand that your dad wants you there to manage the funds and to make sure everything is done right. If it works in Pattaya then no reason why it should not work in Hua Hin, a...

Re: True Vision Channels Gone

Most areas of Hua Hin can get the local cable service for 3000 baht per year. I have had True Vision for 15 years but just recently cancelled it. I am just going to subscribe to a sport website to get my golf and football. The cable is not great but for 3000 baht per year is good value.

Re: Hua Hin Golf Community

Majestic has been up for sale for several years but they are asking too much. Unless of course they have reduced their price to a sensible level. I have heard it said so many times that you cannot make money in the golf business. Having been involved with Black Mountain when it opened and since then...
