Re: Atheists More Intelligent Because They Can Override “Instinctive” Religious Beliefs—But It Will Be Their Downfall

A very intelligent post hhfarang. May I humbly add that most AT''s flee the sybols and practice in the religion scene due to the gangrene caused by extremism and corruption within most religious circles, whatsoever be the confession. Every side of religious confessions be them christian, hindu, isla...

Re: Legal status of illegal vehicle

I have to wonder how these 50/50 verdicts will work in the future with many people now having car cams. One would think insurance companies will not be so eager to agree with police verdicts when they have video evidence. Yes, it will be interesting to see how this could alter things if they bring ...

The tourist already takes a cowardly agressive combative stance with his 2 legs getting firmly fixed on the ground, all this infront of a kid!!!!....one on his tourist girlfriends is drinking....there are laws in many countries and obviously in Thailand regarding public drinking...whatever happened....

Re: Taxi or something at nightime

most people get at least time and a half for working after midnight, so if 300b is a good 3pm fare then 400-500 at 3am sounds reasonable. Obviously your calculation is correct as night duty does call for more. However, does 300B (daytime charge) seem correct to you one way journey from say Hilton A...

Maybe such issues do not occur in a developpment with daily passage of maintenance staff, wall to wall neighbours etc? Or am I wrong?

Re: Best Hua Hun tailors?

They are all pretty good and much cheaper than Bangkok. Don't get sucked in by a deal that seems to be too good to be true. These deals involve the cheapest and thinnest cloth. You get what you pay for. I have had many quality suits made by Savino in Dechanuchit Rd, a Nepalese guy who gives good va...

Re: Legal status of illegal vehicle

Similar experience a few years ago, we were hit by another car with no insurance. The police were not interested at all and we had to claim on our own insurance to repair our car which took six weeks. The word 'law' in Thailand is a very loose term, as is the word 'police'. So in other words, if a ...

Re: Development, or lone wolf??

I would never buy in a development/estate in my own country, just not my style. But I did in HH mainly for security reasons. After talking with quite a few expats in different places in Thailand I concluded that a falang-owned house on its own is a target for thieves. not to mention no hassle for m...

Re: Average cost of Gardner, Housekeeper, Pool Maintenance

I would think the garden at 2500 -3000bht per month because 4 Rai is a very large area , pool would be 2000- 2500 per month, for a cleaner we pay 500bht each visit for 8 hours I think that was one fourth of a rai, not 4 rai. We had about twice that much lawn (needs to be watered daily by the way) a...

hello there , i need to warn people about a rogue / extremely violent builder in huahin/bankok who ruined our project and then beat the crap out of me (70) when we told him that we had employed a professional building inspector to check the faults. i understand i cant put his name on here but would...

This is not quite on your subject, but an observation. Before Thai I lived in China. There every lady friend I had was busy teaching me Chinese whether I liked it or not. Every friend I had married to a Chinese lady worked hard at becoming fluent encouraged by their wives. i have never encountered ...

Re: Where did you meet your girlfriend or wife?

To add my bit of speculation ihere, I may assume if the question is asked where one met, is perhaps to get some tips on where to meet a nice normal non-bar girl? If so, what about internet dating sites? Perhaps you may bump into some nice not so cupid girls with normal day jobs who may not be huntin...

Re: Snakes in the house and garden

What about the natural plants that are considered as snake repellants? I also would not have any bushes in my garden or log/leaf piles as snakes love such hidden structures. I may keep the surface of the garden free of any bushy type vegetation aware that it is a bit of a frustration to be under the...
