Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

A new question. Are BEV's more restricted concerning water depth on the roads than ICE's? That's a valid concern here. I would imagine with the electric motor it would be sensitive to splash, spray, snow much more than an ICE vehicle. There's a famous, permanently flooded ford in the UK ca...

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

Happens to me also, its very inconsistent. Looking forward to reading the Nord reviews/experiences when doing the same things. I've not had messages telling me I'm not in the UK when using NordVPN but what I do get occasionally is a message telling me that a programme is not available, but that thi...

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

Sorry, now that I think about it, when I had Channel 4 working in Firefox on the Windows laptop (which was some time back) it was with Surfshark, not NordVPN - and I was using the Surfshark add-on for Firefox, not the separate Surfshark programme running stand-alone. In general, if on a Windows plat...

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

I just got NordVPN and in minutes iPlayer worked a treat. After spending hours trying to get it to work with ExpressVPN. So thanks for that. Doesn't work with Channel 4 though :( Hmmm - I'll have to check on Channel 4 when I get back to Hua Hin (travelling up country at the moment) but I'm sure I'v...

Re: Booster Vaccines - Covid 19

I got the bivalent Pfizer vaccine last month when I was back in the UK. I was staying with my parents who are 96 and 97 years old and I don't care what anyone else says, if the vaccine reduced my chances of getting Covid and/or potentially passing it on to my cliniically vulnerable parents by even 1...

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

I can't get iPlayer to work on my Firestick with ExpressVPN. Very annoying! Its a third of what ExpressVPN is charging so even if I can't use it for iPlayer (which barely works for me anyway), I'll take it if it does everything else the same! Just FWIW and to pass on my personal experience, I just ...

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

I was back in the UK recently and even though I still had my Netflix and Prime Video accounts available, I ended up watching mostly ITV and BBC offerings. Can thoroughly recommend "The Long Shadow," an ITV true crime drama series about the Yorkshire Ripper murders. I was actually living in...

Do you have a link to view the latest artists impressions?

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

I'd like an alternative also, if it works as well as Express. I need good service to the USA as much of my sports etc., are there. Best gateway city for Thailand is Seattle based upon server distance. If anyone using Nord, or any other besides Express, to the USA, please post. I used to ha...

Re: Hua Hin hospital special medical clinic

I hope I'm reading more into this than is really happening. As you know, I've been turned away from this clinic a few times now because they've had no doctors. Mrs BB & I are due for our quarterly check-ups on Saturday morning. Mrs BB received a phone call just after 12 today, cancelling our ap...

Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

That's a shame - I'm looking for perfection on ITV and BBC. Other UK TV services are fine. Do they do a trial period where you can test before you buy? Not sure anyone can guarantee perfection, but I've had virtually no problems so far in using NordVPN for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc, in nearly a year ...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

EVs may or may not be more fire prone than ICE cars, I suspect they are, but the point is that when they self-immolate the consequences are generally far worse. EV fires are almost impossible to extinguish, burn at very high temperatures, and for long periods of time, sometimes days. Battery powere...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

It’s great to see the advances being made but I am skeptical about the range. I can fill my Terra up and drive all the way to Chiang Mai without having to fill up on a hot summers day driving conservatively. Have not heard of an EV that can realistically achieve over 600km. Happy to admit that an E...

Re: The 10K Election Handout Farce

The system doesn't allow it for many. If they have property or land in their home province, I'm told they can't move their registration. If the problem was fixed, it would cost the Gov't more, so no incentive to fix it. I dont think that's right. My other half has land in her 'home' province, but w...

Re: New deposit rules for banks

Somewhere above in the thread the assumption was made that a TIN is the same as a foreigners Thai ID number. I guess not correct. Actually, that is correct. Although the Revenue Department website says, "A taxpayer identification number is issued by the Revenue Department and comprise...
