Re: FB Brand Car Battery
That one of the things i neglected to bring, ill get a set..... A bit old school now plus you need a donor battery to jump from. Nowadays you can buy a powerbank type kit similar to what you can get for your mobile. Keep it in your car but remember to periodically charge it up. If you have a flat b...

Re: UK bank closing accounts for customers living in Thailand
Couple of points on this subject. I have been living and working overseas from UK for best part of 30 years, and in that time I have always been with Barclays. Recently (last summer), I spoke with a lady from the bank over the phone ref ordering a new pin reader and debit card, to be sent to me in ...

Re: UK bank closing accounts for customers living in Thailand
Just looked at Lloyds International and you need a minimum of £25,000 in there and there are monthly fees. https://www.lloydsbank.com/international/products-and-services/current-accounts/international-account.html I had something similar with HSBC in Jersey and closed it when they started c...

Re: UK bank closing accounts for customers living in Thailand
Try Lloyds International, based in both the Isle of Man and in Jersey. They have sterling accounts with credit and debit cards for non res UK citizens. Thanks for the info, I already have accounts with them, historical ones with no fees, so I will enquire about a card. I don't use a card much but i...

Re: UK bank closing accounts for customers living in Thailand
Just received an SMS from Barclays with a letter to follow saying as my address is outside the UK I will need to close my accounts. Just started claiming my company pension 6 months ago and have it sent there so now there is activity every month but clearly the amount of usage is immaterial. It's my...

Re: UK bank closing accounts for customers living in Thailand
Did anyone find a solution to a UK bank closing the UK account of a customer based in Thailand? I'm with Santander, and they seem to have noticed I'm in Thailand. They also mention HMRC, and me being classed as non-UK resident. (Even though I pay UK tax and my Santander account has money coming in ...
