Re: Thai national health insurance for foreigners
OK. What follows is my understanding. Short story: If your name is in a yellow or blue tabien baan, and therefore you have a 13 digit Thai id number, you don't need this national health insurance for foreigners at Hua Hin Hospital. They give it to you free. Just go and register. Long story: I went ...

Doomsday List
On 12 Nov 13 we were all given the news that forum member Sargeant had passed away. He thought he had prepared well for such an eventuality (he had, but there were many holes), but those who rallied around to help his young widow soon realised how little they knew e.g.: * How many death certificates...

Re: Wound Care
As an outpatient, always under 1,000 Baht. Prices escalate rapidly if medication is required. Ointments - I generally provided my own. Less than 100 Baht from any pharmacy, but Hospitals would charge 500 Baht each time. If you have to use hospital ointments e.g. first time, take the opened tube with...

Bangkok Hospital have done a good job with my massive open wound, although there were a few mishaps along the way. My 3" diameter leg wound is now fully healed.

Re: Chong Krajok Mountain (Mirror Tunnel Mountain)
If they have "monks on monkey duty" and he saw BB planning an ascent, he may have gone up there specifically to keep the monkeys at bay. Interesting thought and plausible. Also explains why he wasn't too friendly having to do that as daily chores. :D Pete  The Monk was making his ...

Re: Chong Krajok Mountain (Mirror Tunnel Mountain)
I've climbed to the temple twice. The 1st with a monk as he said the monkey's could be a pest. Strange that because as I started my climb there was a Thai man shouting frantically up at me in Thai. I could understand enough to know that he was warning me about the monkeys. Maybe he was telling me t...

Re: Chong Krajok Mountain (Mirror Tunnel Mountain)
So did you actually make it to the top..? Or send your good lady up there with the camera..?? :thumb: My good lady had more sense - she stayed in bed at the hotel :D Is the town name the same as the mountain (for map reference)? As Frank rightly says its in Prachuab. buksida provided some very nice...

Chong Krajok Mountain (Mirror Tunnel Mountain)
Just 100Kms South of Hua Hin, Chong Krajok Mountain is a small mountain situated at the Northern end of the town. It is located in front of Wat Tharnmikaram 2. There are 396 steps to climb to the temple at the top, which is no mean feat for an old, overweight chap like me. Enshrined in the Golden Pa...
