Re: Interested in Ford Everest & standard of service at Hua
Thanks for the reply again. I suppose to some extent one might expect Ford's parts delivery to have improved in the time that you mention. I would certainly hope so, but the pessimist in me leads me to think otherwise. Things, company structures and supply lines change very slowly in this country. ...

Re: Interested in Ford Everest & standard of service at Hua
HHC I sold the car about seven years ago after owning it for seven. It was my brother-in-law who bought it, and he kept it till just a year or so ago. When spare parts became almost impossible to get he'd be over at the local import shops down in Charoen Krung scrounging and ordering even things lik...

Re: Interested in Ford Everest & standard of service at Hua
HHC, a lot depends on what use you intend for the vehicle. The Everest is a pretty large vehicle, so it will suffer from less than optimal performance if you choose the smaller engine. With the larger engine you pay for it at the gas station. It also seems to be the only one still in the market wher...

Re: Drain rods
Those flexible 'drain snakes' don't really work well, I've used the semi-rigid black pvc irrigation hose with more success. It helps if you put a cap on the end and drill a small hole so you get a fairly strong water jet to help clear away the sand/silt blockage. The Thais call the drain snake 'ngoo...

You can also try walking around the secondhand dealer lots.

Re: UV/sun tinting film for car windows
Sixty percent is just on the edge of my comfort zone, sister-in-law's car with forty percent all round is great for both day and night driving. One of the guys at work has eighty percent; he admits to rolling down a window if he has to reverse or park at night. The only advantage I see the tint has ...

Re: Why Do Sellers Usually Include A Photo Of The Fusebox
See if you can get them to post a picture of the meter as well. The reason? Depending on the age of the house, the ratings back then and now are different. It used to be just a 5 amp meter unless otherwise specified, and I had a neighbour who had installed aircon and other stuff and you could litera...

Louk krung kids, Pete? Invasion of the body (parts) snatchers more likely. Don't fancy waking up in a bathtub full of ice and a note telling you to call the nearest hospital as one of your kidneys is missing...

So given this, IF, hypothetically speaking of course, the dogs had genuine Thai I.D. cards would they be more likely to have.... Much, much closer to the truth than you think, SJ. The latest dog, acquired from the animal shelter at Mahidol University, has an implanted microchip ID... Hello, Big Bro...

Re: Buying an airgun in HuaHin/Thailand
Had a word with some Thai friends last night re firearms and licensing. These guys have licensed 9mm pistols (why I don't know, guess it's easier to wave it around in public than the other one) but they all agreed on one thing. An unlicensed weapon will land you a very long jail sentence. This inclu...

No.
0.177 caliber is about 4.5mm and the lead pellets are (sort of) cone shaped; the ceramic pellets are 6mm and are round.

There are gas powered hand guns in the local Thai markets around, saw 1 for around 3k. Guy gave me a demo of 1, if your interested I think they'd be willing to do same for anyone. I was on a bit of a gun high after going shooting a range of guns, honestly I thought for what it was, was well worth i...

Benzine 95 was almost impossible to get, there were only one or two places in Bangkok I knew of that still sold it after Shell totally went gasohol. Note that it wasn't just phased out, it was being forced off the market at the time. After the announcement, one PTT station went from all 95 gasohol p...

Re: Corrective laser eye surgery (Lasik)
A guy at work had his eyes done at Rutnin and is 100% pleased with the results. My brother also considered getting it done there, but changed his mind when he was told it wasn't permanent and there was a possibility it would have to be done again a couple of years down the line. I've been wearing gl...
