Oh, the LHG would love it - a little bar by the side for me to "People Watch" along with some French cuisine, a beer or 2 and we're sorted!!

Re: 2024 F1 News and Prediction League

but I truly do hope Alonso will stick around to give up and coming drivers the benefit of his knowledge and experience.... Yes, and that is what he and a couple of others should be doing! But it should not be in F1 races! I see your point Nereus and tend to agree - as I mentioned though, I'd just l...

Re: Travel: Asia & Further Afield

^What I've found recently in Europe is that these apartment type hotels can be a really good deal, you get basically a double room but with a kitchenette as well which can be handy. It gives you the option of eating in if you want which I find makes life easier if you can't be bothered to eat out. ...

Re: Asia & Further Afield

I have regular weekends away from Luxembourg when I'm working and I always manage to keep it reasonably cheap as it's basically nonessential travel. In the last year or so I've been to Valletta in Malta, which is a beautiful historic city, Lisbon which I also enjoyed and several cities nearby, Trie...

Re: 2024 F1 News and Prediction League

I doubt that anyone would dispute that Alonso is an incredible driver, but on his own addmission he made a serious blunder. His hesitation and momentary indecision that led to the crash, is an indisputable reflection on his age. It definitely cannot be blamed on lack of experince, or an attitude su...

Re: Asia & Further Afield

Japan was a big eye-opener for me. Price wise, very similar if not cheaper than Thailand for many things, but the hotels are the biggest sting. Hopefully will be back there next year. Does the "Budget" quoted here make sense though - https://www.budgetyourtrip.com/japan

Re: Turn off the lights for “Earth Hour” tomorrow

Thailand (well Bangkok) is no doubt the same, but when I was living in Chongqing (China) I could be walking 10 meters or so away from the open doors of a shopping center and be blasted by low,low temperature AC. People would gather around simply to cool down from the summer heat that was 40 deg plus...

The Japan comparison would be interesting though! I know it was a complete mix on your last trip - camper, hotels, touristy/not-so-much etc.

Re: Replacement knee surgery

Only just looked at this thread - probably as it gives pain just thinking about it!! A bit confused though. The title of the thread is " Replacement Knee Surgery" - comments/replies though are more surgery/removal of the Meniscus/Cartilage to me or have I misunderstood? I've had the Cartil...

Re: The Recommended Movies Thread

A very good friend who I seem to have (well, probably have) known all my life just called to check up on my wellbeing as slightly "inebriated pals" do from time to time. For some unknown reason he had a wonderful flashback to a movie that we saw together when we were kids (it was old to us...

Crap acting, but I enjoyed the movie. Probably an A movie with a B movie cast. Oh good God man! Conor is a Oscar winner in the making...What, with the subtle (hardly exaggerated Irish lilt) and zero swagger? :D Actually, I did enjoy it - downloaded to pass the time on a trip home, plenty of ...
