Re: Passenger van crashes, 5 dead, 8 hurt

.....My wife had to go to Bangkok today, and she was adamant that she would rather drive there and back herself than risk her life in a minivan. ....... Wise choice in my opinion. The stress, fatigue and elevated BP of driving yourself cannot be as bad as sitting in the back of a van on (as...

Re: Butchers

Try to get a Thai to eat lamb. Success rate is probably about 5% at most. They had some very good chops at the Christmas Eve buffet we went to. Convinced the wife to take a bite and she really suffered through the chewing and swallowing. Little daughter almost ran in horror as she goes to a petting ...

Re: Thai "new" rice

All the above makes sense. My 6 year old, who fancies herself as a rice expert  announced that it tastes similar to Japanese rice, and/or a wet form of the Thai sticky rice she loves with her BBQ chicken wings. :D Pete

Life is tough for children of migrants

Reading things like this really ruins my day. Although there seems to be hope, the high muckety-mucks who make the rules and implement procedures obviously forget that they were once children. If the opportunity arises for you personally, help kids like this if you can please. :thumb: Pete  ...

Thai "new" rice

Does anyone have experience with this type of rice? Our maid came back from Issan after the new year holiday and brought us several kilos from her family farm up there. The regular cooking rule of about one cup of water for each cup of rice doesn't apply with this stuff. You just put in a couple tab...

Maybe I should start a new thread now, "The Floods of 2012"? If it started raining today, the floods would likely start all over again. Story and charts below. Pete  Smith warns of dam peril Fears grow of another massive flood disaster http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/274575/s...

Re: Abhisit slams government

This issue has had an impact on exchange rates since it started about two weeks ago. That's an assumption on my part, but both the Dollar and Pound Sterling has been strengthening. Perhaps all this debt and who is going to be responsible, and the additional expenditures coming about because of the f...
