Re: Canadians with no visa; can we just pop out of the country and pop back in?

The 30 day visa exempt stamp is extendable at Immigration in Hua Hin once for a further 30 days. Cost is 1,900 THB.
After that, you can exit and re-enter by land and get a new 30 day visa exempt stamp (that can be extended as before). Note, you can only exit and re-enter by land twice in any year.

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

Yep, Mrs BB has been shaking her purse at it  . Apparently it's meant to be lucky, so we know who will be winning the lottery tomorrow :D Yes, my other half was out there shaking her purse as well. I suppose if she loses the lottery tomorrow (more than likely) there will be some vague excuse...

Re: Authorities set to charge for car parking on public roads

Here's a pipe dream. Charge vehicles a congestion fee for entering within a certain radius of the town centre. Install parking meters and have a dedicated, motivated force of people (and I don't mean the BIB) to hand out fines left, right and centre. Oh yes, and make sure that people pay their fines...

Do you actually have to divest yourself of the actual passport or will a copy do?

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

This morning, I noticed that there was a new traffic sign that stretched over the southbound carriageway of Petchkasem Road, just south of Soi 19, by the temple. Not only did it spell out the speed limit but there were illustrations of speed cameras on it as well (heaven knows if there are any of th...

As tomorrow's a holiday, I would assume the 3rd. But that's not 100%.

Re: Kasikorn Debit Card

I finally got my new debit card after a couple of failed attempts because I didn't have the patience to wait.
All painless, no mention of insurance and cost was 200 THB. Card is valid for 5 years.

Re: Hua Hin's most dangerous pedestrian crossing

Well, strangely enough, Thailand, like many other countries have laws regarding jaywalking. It's is technically illegal and carries a fine. Of course, it's rarely enforced in Thailand but fines have been dished out in BKK. I was going to mention jaywalking. Didn't realise there was a law about it o...
