Re: Retirement Visa Renewal for US Expats - Easy

My wife (Thai of course) decided to take it upon herself to do all the paperwork a couple of days before we go. All I have to do is drive, give her whatever she wants re: paperwork etc., sit where I can read a book until she's done, and smile at the nice officer when we leave. Time before last they ...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

Last week I forgot I was supposed to play golf one day. My wife saved me, seeing I was up at 6:30 a.m. fooling around with the computer, she asked me why I wasn't getting ready to go play. It isn't funny now.....I never thought I'd forget a tee time! As mentioned previously I'm 72, and now have fail...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

My darling wife of 28 years does this to me. No matter how exacting I think I am, my Thai never passes muster. Being 72 I have also found it pointless to continue to learn the written language. I simply cannot get the stuff to stick in my brain.

Re: Computer laws would give government control of internet

"The media is so slanted I'm not sure it will ever stand straight again."

One has to wonder just how long it has been biased without our knowledge. If you switch channels it is often that even though you may have switched networks the news is exactly the same.

Re: Mobile phone, ISP and electrical questions

I found out on the forum a couple of weeks ago that there is now a TV provider on the internet that will give you U.S. channels, so I checked it out and am now using it. It is called USTVNow.com. I am currently using their $29 intro offer which gives me 28 channels and unlimited DVR usage......the o...

Re: Photo trip report: A week through unseen southern Thailand

Beautiful pics, except for the creepy crawler. Funny, no matter where you are you can always find something to remind you of home. The pasture pics look very much like our area of N. California. Thanks for the effort to publish these; always happy to see where you've been.

Re: Need engineering ideas - launch for a boat

Prcscct - Yes, one of those. With firm sand it should be easy to get in the water....migrant didn't say if he just wanted to fish or run around a bit but I can't see where it wouldn't work. The tractor idea is probably the best, but depends on how big he want the boat to be, and then you still have ...

Re: Has Hua Hin Traffic Reached Saturation Point?

I remember a couple of weeks ago I wrote a reply mentioning watching traffic from the old Byouk Tower in BKK while we ate dinner 28 years ago. The traffic never moved the whole time we were eating. We are now in Cha Am and partake of the drive into Hua Hin only when absolutely necessary, and we take...

Re: Ryder Cup 2016 TV Coverage

To answer the original question, Truevisions is NOT showing any Ryder Cup except the two hours a day from Golf Channel. I spent hours and hours looking for something somewhere on the internet and the results were negative. I even went to the "Watch live streaming" etc. sites and tried to sign up.......

Re: Parking Downtown Hua Hin

I've always been of the opinion the now empty "shopping mall" at the traffic light would be the ideal spot for a multi-level parking lot. Seems like whomever owns that property might be wise to raze those empty buildings in favor of one. Better late than never, and would produce a lot more income th...
