Re: Shark Attack - Had Sai Noi

... it would be more prudent regarding sharks and sea life around Hua Hin for a English speaker to ask a local with local knowledge, who have far more knowledge on this subject, than any of us English speakers on this forum :) I very rarely ask a Thai about anything to do with wildlife, as I find t...

Chinese GP

Well done Parahandy, for getting the highest score for the race and now leading the cumulative leader board.

Biggest climber this week is pharvey, and biggest loser is RZR (those early bird points do help quite a bit).

Re: Lost Dog - Pranburi Forest - FOUND

What a relief for the lovely little dog and her owners.

I'm also hugely relieved, as every time I looked on the site and saw the title of the post, it just broke my heart.

Re: Electric Kettle?

We found during our travels that most Asian hotels don't have kettles - it's a kind of Western thing. We got round that by buying one of those plug in elements off the net JohnD is talking about. We pack a couple of mugs, teaspoon and coffee and we're sorted.

Pivotal moments in life.

Mr.VS and I were chewing the cud (actually having a glass of champagne) the other night, talking about what we’d done so far in our lives, and why we’d made certain decisions when we did. It dawned on me that when we decided to pack up our lives in the UK and come to Thailand I was 36 and Mr.VS was ...

Re: Niece in UK wants to be expat - finding work in Thailand

How old is your niece, RCer? If she likes young kids, there's quite a high demand here for females to teach at kindergardens. I agree with HHTel about getting a TEFL certificate before she leaves the UK. However, if she hasn't got a degree, she can still get a job. I know of a few people teaching he...

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

Of course I was referring to the black ones in the family (that prefer to place a few bets), rather than the cute white ones that enjoy gamboling.

Re: Back in the UK after 14 years

I only realise how well-trained Mr.VS is when we have males (esp. young unmarried ones) at the house. Has spring sprung in England, DM? Are the daffodils nodding to you on your stroll to the shop/pub? Do you have swallows nesting in the eaves, and have you heard a cuckoo yet? I could go on about lam...

Re: 2018 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Thank you BG. Being a kid at heart we went to the cinema and watched Peter Rabbit (a throw-back from my wonderful childhood). Laughed all the way through - a fabulous film for people of all ages. Good luck with your predictions for today's race. As Pete is taking a sabbatical, I'll take over posting...

Re: 2018 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Thought I'd post the results of the last race for all to see (especially as I did particularly well...). Well done JJ for getting the new season's yellow hat - I hope to be wearing it at some point this year. I messed up a bit this weekend as it was my birthday yesterday, and with all the excitement...
