Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

Thank you HHTel. That at least gives the reason for the action.

It is still a grey area regarding showing of monthly income i.e. will my 2 £10K transfers each year suffice, or does it have to be transferred each month, which I won't do? I guess it'll all become clear soon.

Re: Coming Soon - Beach Walks - Now & Then

There's no snow or ice forecast, coupled with a midday low tide, the adventure should start tomorrow.

No fool but the Englishman...............

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

I don't think they will know yet either. They will be as confused as the rest of us - I don't think anybody saw this one coming. They will state what needs to happen when they have worked it out, and despite several people having unfortunate dealings in the past, I have found that so long as you com...

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

"The Embassy said :? " Thais don't take kindly to outside interference in their affairs unless its China.

I won't be convinced until the Thai Authorities say.

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

The solution is very simple. You use the combination method.....Savings + income Back to the same question - how will income be proved as genuine? If your answer is money transferred to Thailand as shown on your bank statement, this is a new element for eligibility, and can you please state where i...

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

Exactly, nobody knows what will be required. I feel sorry for the pathfinders who will find out for the rest of us early next year. They will basically be the cannon fodder, to allow the rest of us to continue to live here without too much hassle in the future. Personally, my way of thinking at the ...

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

I guess I'm lucky that I don't renew until July. We should have some facts to work on by then. I feel truly sorry for those who will be renewing early in the year, and we should all be grateful for their efforts in clearing the mists for the rest of us. I don't believe Thailand wants to lose it's ex...

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

And I replied that I've seen similar letters from other nation's embassies.

However, I'm fast coming to the conclusion that none of this discussion is based on fact, it's just people's personal interpretation of a statement by the UK government.

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

So, there is no precedent that we can follow it's all guesswork - I'll be honest, I hate guesswork. What will this farce actually achieve, other than a few poor Brits having to return to the UK and become a burden on the state? To me this rings of colonial Britain telling a foreign government how to...

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

I'm a little confused on this as well, I don't do this type of visa extension but ... How do nationals with embassies that don't provide letters prove income? Via a bank statement saying that money has been transferred from abroad between extensions. With no savings immigration want to see 800.000/...

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

I don't know if all embassies provide the letter, but I've certainly seen other nationalities at immigration with similar letters.

I honestly don't understand why they are stopping, because at about £50 a shout, they must have been self financing, at least, and probably a source of embassy income.

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

I think we know, and have known for a few years what the Thai authorities need - I don't see where that has changed. The problem is how those who rely on the income method will prove they meet the Thai requirement.

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

If it were Thai legislation we were discussing, then I'd agree, but as this notice has been issued by the UK Government, I personally tend to believe it.

Re: British Embassy Bangkok to stop Certification of Income Letters

But para 5 and the earlier link are talking about the proof being deposits into a Thai bank (or maybe that's the way I want to interpret it  ). The deposits into the bank, so long as they total an average of 65,000 Baht/month should be the proof. Or am I wearing rose tinted glasses?
