Re: Doing 90 day and annual retirement extension at the same time

Immigration advised me I could process my annual extension 45 days before the due date, I did not test the 45 day window as I renewed my extension about 15 days before my due date. Separately, my parents were also advised they could renew 45 days prior to due date.

Re: Maximum ATM withdrawal and lowest fee

Yesterday, for the first time ever, my ATM fee was 220 bt. This was at a green Kasikornbank ATM. I suspect all the other banks will shortly be charging 220 bt, if they aren't already. Luckily, the card I use is with a USA investment firm that reimburses the ATM fee back into my account within a coup...

Re: Maximum ATM withdrawal and lowest fee

My experience is they all charge 200 bt fee now. I suggest you consider taking your card to the counter inside the bank, process the withdrawal with the teller, instead of the machine outside. I'm positive you can withdraw much more each time working with the person at the counter than you can at th...

Re: Grout Sealant, where to buy?

Oh course the grout should be completely dried, probably a couple of days, before sealing.

Re: Grout Sealant, where to buy?

Instructions are all in Thai, but essentially, tape off the grout to keep the liquid off the tile or stone, apply the liquid sparingly, work it in lightly with a toothbrush, let stand for 15 minutes, then wipe away excess liquid taking care not to get it on the tile or stone. Let dry then remove the...

Re: Grout Sealant, where to buy?

We bought ours at Homepro. Green plastic, 500ml bottle, yellow cap. Top of label says COTTO, mid label it says FUGAPROOF, bottom of label it says MADE IN ITALY.

The Thai word for FUGAPROOF is ฟูกาพรูฟ in case you want to show this note to them at Homepro.

Re: Would you drive a black car in Hua Hin?

I purchased my Pajero in 2013, when considering which color to choose I was informed all colors were the same price, except white. Had to pay an additional 15,000 baht for white. The dealer was quite upfront when I asked why, he explained it was because white was more popular and the price differenc...

Re: Photos: Major flooding in Bangsaphan

I have guests that are trying to go from Hua Hin to Chumphon by bus. We heard the highway was reopened so checked at the bus station twice today, trying to buy tickets for tomorrow. Both times we were told to come back tomorrow at 9am to check if the buses are running. We tried to purchase tickets b...

Re: Best Vet in town?

I've used Kasetsart Vet Teaching Hospital probably around 50 or 60 times over the last 4 years, with my two dogs and two cats, as well as numerous street dogs I've helped out. Can't say enough good about them ! Spaying and neutering is expensive at Kasetsart, around 3000 baht versus 1000 baht at the...

Re: Adobe Pro

Newer versions of Microsoft Word include functionality to open and save as PDFs. I used this for my immigration forms and had no problems. Previously, I was an avid user of Adobe Acrobat Pro, but since Microsoft started including PDF file format functionality in their Office products I have stopped ...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

Excellent books Sid, I have all 3 myself. I've studied the two you show above extensively, in fact, we just finished a year of studying the purple book in class at Sirada. I've started on the 3rd book, it's green colored and titled "Thai for advanced readers", but haven't spent much time with it. I ...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

Written words still have sound, even if only heard in your head. In my case, I have severe tinnitus which prevents me from hearing the tones necessary to attach meaning or inflection. I think most, maybe all, farang struggle with the tones, both speaking them properly and hearing them properly. I k...

Re: Why do many expats not bother to learn to read?

So why do cars have stickers saying the color of that car is some color other than the true color? It's a superstition thing. Thais believe that some things bring good luck, some bring bad. For individual people, being born on a particular day of the week, or certain numbers bring good luck. Same w...
