Attack on Farang Tonight, Results in Early Bar Closing

In the usual knee-jerk reaction to an incident the HH Mib thought it wise to close the bars at midnight tonight. ...Last night one of the 'guest' players in the elderly football tournament was attacked by a Thai youth with a broken bottle in/near Mai-Tai bar over a jealousy incident involving the Th...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

I've been talking with a flower-girl this week (& last night also)..She told me she's never known the bars be so empty..all the way around the 'Bintablock' she said "no Farang". (A good indicator of nightlife-trade is to ask the street-traders themselves) Last week An Irish friend & myself took a wa...

Re: GBP vs THB

I go back to work in the UK twice a year, & now I can honestly say (for me).. it's cheaper to live there than here! OK, I live in the north, not the expensive home counties, But apart from examples such as Lecky & water bills, & maybe eating out at the food-courts..I do think my money buys more over...

Re: Hua Hin police to get tough on motorbike helmets

NOKYAI is correct with this observation..maybe that's why the child has to sit up-front?..as lookout for potential hazards (2 kids between rider & handlebars increases the awareness) Leaving mama to happily read texts & reply too.. :? As for the MiB getting tough on helmet-wearing?..Nah, same-same a...

Re: Illegal hotels to feel the heat in Hua Hin, governor promises

Now I may be wrong here, but on the list of HH hotels that were found to be illegal this last week..was one named Citin Loft. I remember this place having this name years ago, but I think it had a name-change to 'Hua Hin Citin Loft' The other night when I was waiting at the traffic lights I looked a...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

So late April, and into May my dear mother was in HH. She stayed (as always) at Peung Phen hotel..so she can walk to most places easily. In the 3 weeks she was here she never saw anyone in the pool, every day maybe 1 other guest would be on the loungers. But my mum (the old bat) is very astute..& sh...

Re: Good Barber / Hairdresser

Would these Blueport barbers understand how I want my hair?.. or are they like so many here that may as well be androids?...doing the same 'short, back & sides' day-in, day-out. My problem is getting the hairdresser to under stand my Thai/English on the matter of NOT cutting any of my long hair off....

Sands Inn on Poolsuk Rd

I was walking past this place 2 days ago, & the building has been totally ripped out! Further more, inside were 2 mini-diggers with 'hen-pecker' attachments pecking away at anything they felt like decimating.. I really was dumbstruck when there are 4 floors above these diggers, & one/both of them ha...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?

Sorry if this story has been mentioned earlier, but... ..I was reading a recent copy of 'Hua Hin Today', & inside was a feature/report that the powers-that-be here are about to ban the sale/registration of new double-decker coaches due to their bad accident record over the last few years.. ..Excuse ...

Laptop with cracked screen

After the lid on my hp lappy had been shut hard with reading glasses still inside, the screen is now unreadable..do I now assume this laptop is scrap, or are cases like this repairable here in HH..? If the item is indeed now scrap, I,m open to suggestions as to where I could buy a cheap/second hand ...

New highway planned from Hua Hin to bypass?

A good mate of mine has just got notification of a planned 6-lane highway coming towards town from the bypass! His document shows an intersection as the Rd climbs the hill at the 'Elephant temple' area...with 2 lanes going North, 4 lanes proceeding into town & the last lanes peeling off South.. ..ma...

Re: Which car would you feel safest in Thailand

A few yrs back I had a Honda Jazz with 5 folk in slam into the side of my Mk 2 Ranger, result... The whole front end of the Jazz disintegrated...(as I suspect it's designed to do..even wrapped the plastic radiator around the front of the block...Ouch. The Ranger?..Nah..I lost a 5x10 inch section of ...

Re: Airbus A380 superjumbo saved from extinction by Emirates

A mate & I were chatting one evening, & the subject of my Emirates flight was mentioned.. ... I told my mate that my A380 rtn flight was the cheapest I'd paid in years (£384), He then went on to tell me that no A380 in the sky today has ever met the fuel consumption figures that Airbus initially quo...
