Re: Movies on DVD

No subtitles. I reckon that's the point of the film during the first half. If he can't really understand what's going on, then neither are we supposed to. However, he's not actually discussing astrophysics with the prison population. Their taunts, their threats and so on are pretty easy to get even ...

Re: Movies on DVD

Saw a review of "A Prayer Before Dawn" in the Guardian yesterday. It's another "real story" of a Brit getting banged up in The Big Tiger and his move into Muay Thai whilst there. I just though "yeah, another one" but it was reviewed well and after finding the download on Pirate Bay, I watched it yes...

Re: Certified Translations

Fair comments. I've mentioned a certified translation to my pension provider and they seem happy with that.
If they are not then hopefully I won't keel over any time soon and can get a notarised one.

Certified Translations

I know this topic has come up before but I'd just like to check where people would suggest I get some official Thai documents translated into English. These are for my wife's birth and our marriage certificates. I just need to get them off to the pension company so she's covered for her widow's pens...

Agree with that. It was spot the non Chinese when I left 6 weeks ago and came back last Friday.

Re: 2018 Football World Cup News and Prediction Tournament

BB, having just got back from the UK, it seemed to me that a lot of potential fans were put off going to Russia because of perceived football violence and political turmoil.
As said, that's just a general feeling I got from watching the news and so on rather than basing it on football punditry.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand

I remember that law coming into effect and contacted my agents in London who told me that lots of their overseas clients were having their properties valued to hopefully lessen the chance of there being any disagreement with HMRC over the 2015 value if and when the time came to sell. It's what I did...

Re: Requirements for retirement visa HuaHin

You can upgrade your entry stamp to a non O within Thailand but you must have 15 days of your entry left and be in the financial position (65K income/800K in Thai bank or combination) to do so. You'll get the visa and then within the last 30 days of that permission to stay, you go back and prove fin...

Re: Ortorkor Market

I wonder how long before the minibuses moved to Soi 51 it was made public that they were going to do so. Quite a while, I should think as the old Dole Social club was demolished to make way for it and there is a much smaller collection of snacky food places opposite the site that have been open for ...

Re: Registering a Marriage with The British Embassy

How do you know anything about our circumstances? In fact as my younger brother is dying of cancer she's worried about what happens when I pop my clogs. Anything that makes it easier for her to deal with UK bureaucracy with regard to my pension and assets will help her. And why not. She'll be entitl...

Thanks for the replies.
A certified translation of the marriage certificate is a good idea.

Registering a Marriage with The British Embassy

My missus has been hounding me over the past few days reckoning that our Thai marriage certificate isn't worth the paper it's printed on back in the UK. I've tried to explain that our marriage is just as valid in the UK as it is here but she's pushing me towards getting it registered with the Embass...

Re: Hua Hin Driving Range

Yes, Black Mountain allow you to use the range if you're playing. I did so last Friday. Sea Pines have a range. As you turn left off Petchkasem it's on the right before you get to the T junction at the beach. Can't remember whether it's before or after the railway line. I've heard that the balls the...
