Well, because it was Sam Roi Yot police, I always assumed it was the Sam Roi Yot beach area (Dolphin Bay).

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
I’ve just checked my P60 and there’s no reference to my Unique tax reference number, the only identifiers are my pension payroll number and my National Insurance (NI) number. Ah, okay, thanks for checking. I guess as a P60 is issued by a single employer / pension provider, its not really relevant. ...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
I notice that many posting on this matter like myself are British subjects and refer to having a P60 form (from HMRC ?) I have never heard about this form and many posting replies mentioning a personal Number this P60 gives. Can somebody tell me what it is to do with ones UK tax affairs and what it...

Re: The Coffee Thread
Did you happen to notice if Gourmet Market stocks Malaysian coffee brands? I wouldnt have noticed, as I don't drink coffee! But I was in the local one today, and they had something I had never seen before, a Malaysian condiment, known as 'Black' and I have no idea what that was. They also sell Ling...

Apart from BB, has anyone else been to the tax office to either get a TIN, or settle up?

Re: Thai household debt deeper than ever
What Bamboo says is true. I was amazed at how many department stores are still open, but at the same time, upmarket shopping centres also have racks of second hand clothes at the same time. If youre talking about the 'high end' malls in the main strip, so Siam Paragon, Centrals World, Chit Lom &...

Yes, a difficult one, but the emphasis and advise for those travelling has always been absolute proof of funding and absolute proof of a reason to return wherever at the end of the trip. Can't be emphasised enough, hence the reason for this post!

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
I hope the payment from Wise registers as an international payment, as thats required for our visas, even if it comes from a local account ultimately owned by Wise. On saying that, I made a transfer earlier - I studiously avoid weekends - and it told me in advance it would be completed in seconds, b...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
I did a Wise transfer yesterday (THB wallet to Krungsri bank), and for the first time since I've been using it, it told me the funds would be available the following day (its usually within seconds). I know banks don't work on Sundays but I figured Wise would ... evidently not. From what you have w...

Just seen it here. Very sad. Hackman was a great of his generation. Performing powerful roles in powerful films. RIP and thanks for the memories.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
I think it's worth remembering that the UK/Thai DTA was signed in 1981. It's mainly about business and people living & working in Thailand. I don't think at that time, the idea of people coming from the UK en masse to retire in Thailand, where money could be transferred in seconds between the tw...
