Re: Powertrain Problem

I had this twice on my Mazda. I didn't know what the light was initially and was none the wiser when I looked it up! It kept going on and off and I never suffered the power loss I was warned would kick in if something serious, however, I did drive in a more restrained manner. If the light came on, I...

Re: Study: Corruption expected to cost Thailand 100 billion baht this year

The outdated processes here are the insistence on the use of paper even though they have a computer sitting right in front of them. Along with the need to pass each piece of paper to 3 different people for their stamp of approval. However, those pieces of paper keep people employed. Yes, they do, b...

Actually, they were robbed. Swatcats scored a perfectly good goal in normal time that was disallowed for offside.
Ah, not good! In the games I have watched, I thought the officiating generally poor, but that's not just a Thai problem any more.

Lazada and Power Mall

Not sure where to post this or if acceptable? Need to declare my other half works for the Mall Group who part own Bluport. Power mall is their electronics store. Anyway, they have teamed up with Lazada and there are often sales and offers not always available in the physical store. Seems like they a...

Re: Study: Corruption expected to cost Thailand 100 billion baht this year

The point about this report is that it focuses on corruption by public servants at all levels and no, I don't think that happens anywhere else (in the west) even near the level that it happens here. The cost to the economy must be staggering, not just through real financial losses, but also by ineff...

Re: Thailand Football

Nakhon Ratchasima 1 - 1 Chiang Rai (Chiang Rai win on penalties) Buriram 1 - 2 Bangkok Utd Thanks BB - tough for the Swat Cats losing on penalties but some of their farang fans weren't so hopeful to start with, but I guess they're sickened now! Interesting to see Buriram were edged out in the match...

Re: Ear Wax Removal

Exactly my point. You are conditioned to expect the lowest level of care at the cheapest cost from the NHS. It doesn't work like that here. A truly ignorant comment. It's actually really good efficiency. You don't need a Doctor to do this task and here it's just a way for hospitals and Doctors to m...

Re: Ear Wax Removal

Problem is most British can't stand the fact that one must pay for quality healthcare out of their own pocket so they go for the cheapest option. Throw in a weak £ and maybe it's time for them to go back to the NHS and some 'free' Doctor from Pakistan. Mate, we're talking about getting wax out of a...

No, but the clinic opposite Hua Hin Hospital is very nice, and you could have spent the change on a decent meal in a nice hotel if you want luxury.
Is that the one on the Petch Road? Do you know the hours they are open?

Re: Cornwall and South Devon more European than English?

Lots of great cider made in Cornwall. I always visited Penwith and on my way back would always stop at Healey's cider farm to buy some goodies, particularly still cider which I really liked. They supplied draught cider to a lot of pubs in the area as well. Their orchards were amazing, it was like a ...

Re: Music - what are people listening to now?

I see myself as an affocionado for ELP's music. Are you on the ELP appreciation group on facebook?, 19,500 members and growing all the time. https://www.facebook.com/groups/162530520477144/ I got introduced to the band from a friend a couple of years older than me - I was 13 or 14 - who brought ove...

@ option

On another forum I use, not Thai related, a reply option is an '@' facility. Pressing this option takes you to a new reply window which starts with @caller which is highlighted and notifies the person it is aimed at that he has received a reply. It cuts down on a lot of clutter and I wondered if it ...

Re: Top three nearby restaurants north of Cha-am

The one that beats them all is So Sofitel Hua Hin, which is 20+ km's north of Cha am. Caller, SO Sofitel is my neighbour. And my Condo is 5 km north Central Cha-Am, add 25 km to Hua Hin, so it is about 30 km!! outside Hua Hin. I stand corrected - thanks. Not sure why I exaggerated the distance from...
