Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
That's a real shame and a big loss - particularly to this thread where Dr Mike's contributions have been really informative and useful. He was lovely to meet at the hospital and also helped me out via email. Just in case he happens to read this thread again - Dr Mike, I'd like to wish you all the be...

Re: US Embassy Thailand terrorism warning
Takiap, My Dear, I did indeed ask the question and thank you for replying. I guess my stance is that whether I agree with this war or not, I am responsible as I have a democratically elected government who have chosen to take part. Anyone who chooses to fight (and I mean choose, it's not conscriptio...

Re: Physiotherapist in Hua Hin
Hi, I need to see a physio for a lower back problem (I saw a sports physio at home - UK - for a while earlier this year but the problem has come back). Does anyone have any recent experience of either of the physiotherapists mentioned on this thread (on Soi 102 and Soi 88) or any others? Any opinion...

Re: Are You Overweight?
Just wondering if you know anything about the rice that some of the vegetarian places sell - it's mainly white but has some reddish grains in it? (It's name, calorie content, nutritional value...?). Thanks. Kate, I don't know the calories or nutritional information, but that's the rice my (Thai) wi...

Re: Are You Overweight?
Takiap Sorry, I wasn't referring directly to your post, though I see that it read that way - I was thinking of various times in my life when I've eaten differently to now - skipped meals then eaten too much (pigged out, basically) with no balance whatsoever - and ended up putting on weight. Pete Jus...

Re: Are You Overweight?
I don't believe skipping meals is the answer to losing weight - little and often of mainly healthy stuff seems to work - otherwise the body goes into starvation mode. I love the French approach - wonderful food and a real appreciation of ace ingredients, good wine etc but generally don't seem to hav...

Oooops I meant 'the fact that she is not a teacher' not 'because' - it's morning here in the UK and I need a second cup of coffee.....

Re: School boss with no education background
I ran a language school and it was my previous managerial experience which made this a success, not my previous teaching experience. I know nothing about the school you refer to, but the woman was straight about not being a teacher which is to her credit. She could be the best recruiter/manager/moti...

Re: Education Visas crackdown
To E-Dork Firstly, I am truly sorry about your son and hope he made a full recovery. Secondly, your racism has left me feeling physically sick. Thirdly, I was mugged at knife-point in London a few years ago. There were two of them, both white, medium build, fair and in their mid-twenties....there ar...
