Re: Political un-rest and rally
The longer-term future for Thailand is pretty tricky. The rich/poor gap is huge, and means that anyone of dubious character and exceptional wealth can exploit the poor and have them do their bidding. It also means that it's in the interests of such elite to keep them poor, uneducated and easily expl...

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Where have they moved the vans? It'd be useful to direct a few mates in Bkk to Hua Hin seeing as it's a bit safer.

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Bastards are looting and burning banks and 7/11s. I hope no-one is going to pretend now that they're peaceful.

Can you imagine what it'll be like when these red bastards run the country? I hate to see this

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Tbh I'm glad I left Thailand now. That said, I have friends in Bangkok who are absolutely terrified and really worried. One is at a hospital as her dad's had a heart attack and reds aren't far away, burning everything they can find. The obvious worry with their history of hospital invasions is wheth...

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Rest assured Gordon Brown will be politically dead in a few days thank god (though not overly keen on the alternatives either).

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Saw the article about the idiot farang earlier. Honestly what is he thinking? I'll put him in the same category as the English teacher who wanted to be Winston Churchill a while back. We are guests and should stay the hell out of this kind of thing. Having an opinion is fine, stating it is fine, get...
Today was dumb and seemingly not sanctioned, but to call them a bunch of hillbillies is a wee bit off the mark, when its apparant they are anything but. Just checkout their facebook page.
Was sanctioned actually. Various media were there when Jutaporn was supporting the action...

Re: Political un-rest and rally
It's worth noting that the US are giving similar advice to the UK at present. Bangkok is mostly risky because of its unpredictability. Unless you're glued to twitter 24/7 it's hard to know exactly when something's gonna kick off. Friends in BKK have had a number of close calls.

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Yes the hitler thing for me really should not have been there (Godwin's law and all that) but the rest does counter-balance, and so long as you accept it for what it is (ie far from unbiased) it's a good complement to the local media which should also be accepted for what it is (far from unbiased). ...

Re: Political un-rest and rally
A video for you to ponder (apologies, it's a little one-sided and the hitler segment was unnecessary, but a nice counter-balance to the rather one-sided media in the west).

Re: Political un-rest and rally
The BBC's 'coverage' has been a joke. They have completely ignored the hospital invasion and covered things from a very pro-red viewpoint, selecting only to cover events which make the reds look good, and ignoring those that don't. Frankly I'm disgusted that the BBC are so utterly incompetent. Al Ja...

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Well I'm rather surprised, I was expecting to get ripped apart in traditional HHAD style. Regarding the BBC, yep, they've gone down in my estimation. A new low was reporting (on the day the red leaders crapped themselves because Methee was singing like a bird) that the reds were offering to compromi...

Re: Political un-rest and rally
Thailand is a deeply troubled country. The divide between the rich and poor is obscene, really beyond what is acceptable. One only has to wander a short distance from the over-the-top displays of opulence at shopping malls to see shanty towns without the most basic of facilities even in Bangkok, let...
