As you're obviously reading this thread i've resent it here. Hello Nikki, it's great to hear from you, and I'd be happy to help in any way I can. In Yamsaard School Hua Hin, There is one Thai teacher and one native English speaking teacher assigned to each class. Kindergarten classes also have a Tha...

Sorry to have earned some dissapproval on your behalf GLC, though perhaps in my defence it's not so much that I have a complete lack of confidence in any of the two schools per-se, (though I must admit to some), my skepticism comes more from a lack of confidence in the schools managements. However, ...

"fraid so".. and if you don't like long school runs your only option is Yamsaard which is closer (behind Tesco) to the centre of town. Somtawin English program is 14 kilometres from the centre of town.

[quote="prcscct"]How old is your child and what test scores? I say that as mine is only 4 and in Reception, so it's not really a formal testing evaluation but more of a work review and progress scale evaluation. In fact my child is only 3 and a half but Yamsaard school do have test days fo...

IMHO Yamsaard school

As the 1st term has come to an end, I thought it might be useful to list a few good points and bad points about how things went, in my humble and personal opinion. Good points: The 12 kids in my childs class have all gelled exceptionally well. They are always holding hands (boys/girls) as they run o...

Count me in Yabz! I've got a 7 year old. I live near the Kao Hin Lek Fai viewpoints where alot of the local thai men after work organise 5 a side games. They have small goals and a ball. However, perhaps there's an indoor gym we could hire unless you know of a free spot... there's always the beach I...

Unfortunately, in emergency situations, which is what most complainants have found themselves in, Bangkok is just that bit too far away for a quick trip. Especially with the traffic and all. And when you factor in the overnight stay in a hotel and any other expenses that may incurr from such an expe...

Yamsaard School have a pre kindergarten class for 2 and a half year olds. Thanks for that loverboy, I didn't know about the Grand. I shall check it out. Unfortunately, Klaus's kids class is on the weekend, rather than a midweek after school thing which is what I'm looking for. I also agree about the...

A couple of years ago, my daughter, who was then about a year old, got a bout of the gastro flu that goes around in rain season. This was further complicated as she was lactose intolerent and we were slowly trying to get her to accept some lactose. She couldn't hold any milk in her stomach and was c...

Speaking of nothing to do for teens, I would add that there's also nothing to do for 7 to 12 year olds aside from going to school and then going home. IMHO I think that sports saved me as a 7+ year old. When I was that age we were always organising local games of football, cricket, baseball and lots...

Public speaking in English competition

I saw on the website for Yamsaard School Hua Hin that they only managed 2nd & 3rd places at the public speaking in English competition. I thought that to be an embarrassment considering that it is one of only 2 schools in the local area with large expensive English programs. I thought that this ...

Re: houses

big ideas said "I think owning a property here works best if you are here full time and living somewhere with a resident community." You are right in saying living here full time, but I have reservations about living in a community, I presume by that you mean many of the complexes that ha...

I have a relatively cheap townhouse here bought in Oct 2005 for 1.6m bt. In the current climate, if I needed to sell in a bit of a rush, I am not confident that I would get any more than 1.6m bt for it. Even though, at the end of the soi, some chap has just built a set of similar 3 storey houses and...
