Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
An option I have discussed with my financial advisor is not bringing money into my bank account but transferring to my partners bank account. He thinks this could be a good idea as there is nothing in the new rulings about this.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Hold on. If you're suggesting I'm scaremongering, you're wrong. I'd just like clarification of procedure. Hey, who wouldn't? I used to answer pretty much all the visa stuff on here and always tried to be literal. But that has nothing to do with the point in question - unless maybe we don't get our ...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Clarification has been given and is supposed to be final now. Income Tax Changes in Thailand On 15 September 2023, the Thai Revenue Department issued a change to personal income tax implications of foreign-sourced income brought into Thailand by Thai tax residents (Any person staying in Thailand for...

Thailand will never change. They really do not want foreighners here. Remember the thai political party Thai Rak Thai, Thai love Thai.
They will never make it easier. That is why I sold up and will only rent from now on

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
It is like they are determined to destroy the economy. Why not just close all 1 to 3 star hotels, guest houses, hostels etc and make only 4 and 5 stat accomodation available. At the same time close all markets and street food. After all isn't it about ensuring their buddies hi so hotels and restaura...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
Just to put that into perspective. Sending 10 x £1000 as opposed to one transfer of £10,000 would cost £6 more. So not a great penalty. Quite true its not much and what can we do, there are no serious options, using an overseas CC costs even more, I brought AU$10k at a cost of AUD5, so I can't comp...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
Probably because the banks can't skim off any money on the transfer. Exactly, many of my friends in Luxembourg work in international banking and they tell me that fees on currency transfers are a substantial part of their profit. Not so in Australia. A recent government review of bank operations sh...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
I was very surprised when I started using Transferwise because they were saving me £50 to £100/month. I didn't think banks would cooperate, but they have been very good. Wise are putting their fees up very soon, but the increase is minimal. Using them is a key part of my annual visa renewal plan, a...
