Hi Guys, I am sure I have seen a branch of the Government Savings Bank somewhere in Hua Hin, thought it was in basement of Bluport, can anyone help? On google maps only shows Bangkok. GN

Re: Who makes property "For Sale" signs?
There is a small shop on the 3218 Hin Lek Fai Road heading out of town, left side, just after the sharp right turn from the Chomsin Rd. Think its called The Banner Shop, if you look on Google maps it is labelled. Hope this helps bigston. GN

Re: Cars with CVT transmissions
I am also concerned about owning a hybrid in Thailand, if the option was available, the power units are costly to buy in the first place and maintenance could be extremely expensive. Do I trust a local dealership ripping my treasured car apart and telling me this or that is shot. These units appear ...

Re: Cars with CVT transmissions
Hi brianks, I take it your talking about the new style that was released in 2020? I was considering getting a saloon version when my wife passed her test back then. But she said we can wait and get the bigger car I would prefer to have.. Glad your purchase was a good choice. GN

Re: Cars with CVT transmissions
Thanks all for your great comments. And thanks VincentD for that last reply, I am also leaning towards a Mazda, I have never even considered Mazda a car purchase in the time I have been driving, but many people I have known over recent years who have owned them have said how happy they have been wit...

Re: Cars with CVT transmissions
OK, I have 2 vehicles in mind at the moment. The new 2023 Honda crv, be it hybrid or ICE. Or maybe a new Mazda cx 5 or similar. Bear in mind I have only looked at the latest 2022 mazda choices on our last visit to HH. The crv is preferable for its size but am concerned about power train and after se...

Re: Cars with CVT transmissions
Think we have read the same article or similar PeteC, yes, Toyota are stating they use Aisin made CVT, which is said to be very reliable but the other, Jatco, is to be avoided used on Mitsubishi and Nissan cars.

Re: Cars with CVT transmissions
I thought of you when I wrote this post Steve. Have read about the engines tendencies to scream at higher speeds, but it may come down to the manufacturer.

Cars with CVT transmissions
Want to know thought's from current owners, or past owners, of cars that have CVT transmissions. Is the reliability as bad as published? Or indeed the actual driving experience. I am looking to buy a new car in the next few years. I have a couple of models in mind but will not mention any names as y...

Re: HTMS Sukhothai - Crew Abandon Ship
Thanks Big Boy, as I said, what do I know, but having been around ships a lot in my early life I am sure this vessel should have favoured OK in heavy seas, obviously the storm was quite severe. And yes, it does look like the kind of patrol vessel that is seen off the coast of Hua Hin.

Re: HTMS Sukhothai - Crew Abandon Ship
Oh, correction to my last comment, sorry, a type 22 frigate is about twice the size. What do I know? I am ex airforce, but grew up around navy ships at Devonport.

Re: HTMS Sukhothai - Crew Abandon Ship
Rogue wave or run aground? Something not right. Even in fairly heavy seas these vessels should be able to stay afloat. Not sure of the size of this corvette but looks roughly same size as an old type 22 frigate. Maybe captain unprepared for bad weather.

Re: Speed cameras, limits, and tickets
Totally agree Big Boy, it is a money making issue, but my point is about visibility, they will always look at ways to get more money in anyway even if in patrol cars, but if it stops people speeding then all well and good. The crux of the whole road safety problem, as it is here, is a selfishness to...
