Have been residing in LOS since 1988, based in Bangers. The first year here was mainly shuttling between Bangkok and Chiangmai. Found HH sometime around 1990, as my wife is connected to aviation and had many friends at the airport. We still make it up twice to three times a year with the kids and ex...

Do I detect a hint of cynism there Mr Buksida ? Hahahahaha  ! Couldn't help that. The girls do get around, one that I knew two years ago is now doing the rounds in Singapore  , according to her friends. Another that fancied my brother (nice girl, though - I've known her for ages as s...

Haha... The wife is always complaining that she needs the exercise, but will wait ten minutes AND pay the motorsai seven baht for the 200 meter walk to the end of my soi instead of walking. Go figure. She used to be a good badminton player, just that work and family caught up with both of us over th...

Wow! I didn't know those things went that fast! My uncle used to have a Lambretta when I was a kid, I used to love sitting in the second seat behind him. I'm aware of the speed limits; it's 90 kmh on typical two-way traffic roads, but on the divided highways you are now allowed to do 120, up from 11...

Any unnecessary loss of life is sad indeed. But you cannot put the blame squarely on the police; the level of vehicle maintenance leaves a lot to be desired, as I have almost run down some motorcyclist who was riding without lights on the wrong side and almost in the middle of a major provincial (bu...

Hello John Not to dampen your spirits, but the better-looking ones with language skills and working at a fairly 'plush' hotel are probably looking out to better their own situation. Not everyone wants to fork out for a really plush hotel, so she may just be narrowing down the list of future prospect...

Was in $ingapore over Christmas, should've spent it in HH in retrospect...

Hi Lev I would guess that most of the people with more than 50 posts under their belt would be expected to be the administrators. :) For myself, I do like to drop in and take a quick look around the board for things of interest almost every day. However, being based in Bangkok means I'm not in the t...

Why do I have to choose this weekend to visit HH??!

I just found out there's a local election, almost everything was closed by 9 pm last night :cuss: I eventually ended up at the Sunshine German restaurant, the food tastes like it came from Foodland. :) At least you could get a beer last night. The whole of Sunday's a dry day, no one is selling beers...

Jaime, I don't make it down to HH more than twice to three times a year, so I am not familiar with the level of development going on. And it's normally with the wife and kids so we'll find someplace near the beach to spend the weekend. In fact, I may just be in Cha-am this weekend. You're right abou...

It's a nice weekend retreat from Bangkok with the wife and the kids, and maybe a few friends to boot. The hotels on the beach are reasonable, it's one of the few places left where the beach is still the beach (meaning no buildings, shops etc between the beach and the road - I remember Patong beach l...

The level crossings at HH are 'protected', meaning there is an actual barrier that comes down to prevent traffic from passing when the train goes through. (Nothing to do with ghosts) It is the ignorant attitude of people that get them killed. Even in broad daylight. What the station master has said ...

Yes, I used to like Tiger a lot when I was working in $ingapore. Another favourite there was Anchor. And ABC stout. Didn't see Tiger at Foodland last time I was there, but did get it at the small Family Mart store. Will look again next time I'm at Foodland.

Cheers!
