Re: The Beer Thread

I thought Hops (and alcohol content) help to keep a bottled beer? India Pale Ale was produced in England to ship to India and to "improve" rather than deteriorate during transport - shipping would have taken a while back the too... India pale ale is a hoppy beer style within the broader category of ...

Re: Tourist eVisa trials beginning at the end of this year

I was at the Royal Thai Embassy in London a couple of times recently and they have notices up regarding the forthcoming E-visa. But unlike Australian E-visa this will apparently be just a way to submit documents online and then make an appointment for an interview. sketchy info on London Embassy web...

Re: Beginners yoga

Hello trosst There are quite a few choices of Yoga classes currently in Hua Hin. I would advise trying a few to find a teacher you get along with - it will also depend on your current level of fitness, much of what is taught in Hua Hin is of the Vinyasa or "Flow" type of Yoga where you repeat cycles...

Re: Tanawit Hotel vs Tanawit House

I haven't been inside Tanawit for quite a while as the friends I used to visit have left. I think quite a few of the rooms have been sold as Condos, some people have bought two and knocked through. I do however frequently use Soi Tanawit, the approach road. I think "Tanawit House" is the property ab...

Re: The Beer Thread

Regarding Thai bottled beers: I was told recently that Chang was a "Chemical" beer i.e. it is not Brewed / fermented but is basically; water, flavouring, alcohol and gas - does anyone know if there is any truth in this please? I've been thinking about the commonly found bottled beers recently Singha...

Re-registration of all SIM cards ordered

Bangkok Post today has this article on the compulsory Re-registration of Sim cards Extract and link copied below. I can understand the theory - but in practice...?? for example a lot of people just spend three to six months per year here The telecom regulator plans to force all mobile firms to re-re...

Re: Visa run from Hua Hin...which one?

Kanchanaburi certainly would be easiest. I have done an organised Visa Run there a couple of times with the shop at Condochain, "One Tour", there are others available but I have found this firm to be pleasant and reliable. Think their phone is 081-8192212 or 091-8214826. They give an all-in price - ...

Re: Pros & Cons of Kite Surfing

I have to agree wholeheartedly that the Kite surfers should relocate. Hua Hin is a family resort and I have seen so, so many near accidents in recent years where people swimming or paddling in the sea have been terrified or nearly hit by irresponsible Kiters and people walking on the beach nearly hi...

Re: Looking for a nice place to get in shape// Fitness

I have been using @Lectic for a couple of years - they are having a bit of a much needed upgrade at the moment which is good news. I am happy there, I like the staff they are friendly and there are some good classes included in your membership.

Bouys on the Beach

Yesterday at the beach I noticed lines of buoys and floats being laid offshore, starting off the Hilton beach and heading south. they are there again today and making steady progress. Their is an enormous barge full of the yellow floats and smaller vessels actually laying them. There are gaps presum...

Re: Demolition of restaurants + shops in Poon Suk road

Heard nothing recently but apparently the Guy who leases the land from the Railway where the "Dark Side" after hours bars are wants to clear them out and open a Food Court. Same Guy that opened the Plaza area on Bintabaht.
