Mr P and Richard....I agree with both of you, it's a very grey area and IMO is very much about indvidual tastes and perspectives. Take music as an analogy - some people think artists like Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and even The Smiths are completely depressing. Others, myself included, chuckle at thes...

Re: Are You an Optimist or Pessimist?

'The optimist is right. The pessimist is right. The one differs from the other as the light from the dark. Yet both are right. Each is right from their own particular point of view, and this point of view is the determining factor in the life of each. It determines as to whether it is a life of pow...

I do approx 15km per day on a mountain bike. The old gut ain't shifted an inch but I'm a helluva lot fitter than when I started. It's a great way to get fit but has it's drawbacks, ie you need eyes in the back of your head to ride on the road here. I was thinking about a mountain bike earlier in th...

Don't you think that the Independant article is a little extremist? Are all the references sudstanciated? It doesn't sound either well informed or balacned to me. "The reaction from civil society has been muted. The Bangkok Post even lent its support to the junta in an editorial yesterday. In ...

That Independent article is one of the few pieces of well informed, balanced reporting I've seen from the UK media - the BBC would do well to take note. Anything I've seen or read from their correspondents appears to show lack of analysis and a complete ignorance of Thai political culture - it's lik...

I've not been following this much, but does Sondhi have the clout to bring in the numbers the press are talking about? And if he does, do you really think Toxin will allow such a full scale mobilisation? Students and middle class intelligensia might get off their proverbials, but from what I've expe...

Another marvellous use of public money.... wonder if the gift sets will ever reach Isaan. If bar girls get any quicker or cleverer we're all in soap! :P Thai babies get government gifts Thailand has introduced a scheme to stimulate the IQ of newborn children. Parents will receive a gift set which in...

Sure there's scaremongering, but I don't think that was the point of Jaime's OP. I was referring to some of the posts on the previous thread on this subject. Wasn't having a go at Jaime...sorry if it came across like that. The people employed to check sites, such as this, do understand English. Lom...

This has been mentioned before and I understand the moderators concern for the site. However in my opinion Toxin's covering his own back therefore is only interested in sites that can potentially influence Thai net surfers....and that means Thai language sites only. In my opinion this applies to any...

But if I was Swiss I wouldn't say a word and if I was Irish I'd pour em both a drink.

The muslims would've chopped the boy's hand off. Wonder what the painter would've done if he's caught them roastin' his missus?
