Re: Best Hospital in HH?
Are you sure it excludes private treatment? Or does it exclude the cost of booking a private room without prior agreement? All the big hospitals are private here. This particular policy states: "If you need emergency medical attention............We will pay for reasonable fees or charges to be...

Re: Best Hospital in HH?
Is the likes of Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin considered "private" as far as travel insurance goes? I'm looking at holiday insurance for my mum visiting from the UK and one policy coverage excludes private medical treatment. I know BHHH is a private business (not a govt hospital) but it's not p...

Re: [ADVERTORIAL] Introducing The Learning Centre
Quick question for you bapak. Is it currently possible to convert from a tourist visa to an ED visa at Hua Hin immigration? i.e. without leaving the country. I ask because I notice one of your competitors is indicating it is via their website. Feel free to PM me should the response be a little "...

Re: Strong Competition Between Hua Hin's Language Schools...
Do any of the local language schools offer ED visa courses for anything other than the Thai language?

Re: Krup and Ka
Hmm. I'm certainly aware of Sawatdee jah! in the north, but Jow to me is an issan word used for 'you' instead of 'khun', but with the difference that it pluralises which khun does not. I don't think I have come across sawatdee jow. Which area have you heard this being used - maybe more to the north...

Re: Krup and Ka
I think (but don't have proof) that the longer usage - like 'Nong Jaaaaa' is northern dialect, rather than Thai Glang. Edit: a few minutes research throws this up: จ้า - Jah, as the polite particle in the north. In Thai Glang it means Bright or Strong. I think in the north, it's "jao" (เจ...

Re: Are there any options to the Salesian School?
Apart from the lack of an English program, we're very happy with Satukarn, and we've only ever heard good reports about it. Okay, contrary to some advice given by others on this thread, here is the process for getting your kids into Salesians School.....My wife and I have just been through the proc...

Re: Krup and Ka
I think there are occasions when a woman can use "krup" although not 100% sure on that. Not exactly the same, but a man (not ladyboy), can sometimes use "chan/di chan" instead of "pom" so I might be right. Personally I'm not a fan of the "krup" and "ka&qu...

Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
Thanks Big Boy. I see they have an online appointment facility, so reckon I'll try to sort something for this week. Edited to say, the hospital website doesn't list any Hua Hin specialists for chest problems - on the appointment page you get the list of Bangkok based specialists to choose from (or l...

Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
Has anyone visited the Bangkok Hospital with chest problems and can give me an idea of the prices for a general examination and perhaps a chest x-ray? Looking at their relevant webpage http://www.bangkokhospital.com/treatment/Chest-and-Lung-Diseases/ it looks pretty comprehensive and after my only v...

Re: Temporary Fillings - More Pain Than Before?
Well, 3 weeks on from my original post and the temp filling is still holding. Have been chewing on the opposite side to be safe and no pain from it. Unfortunately another couple of health issues have taken precedence during my time in the UK, so any thoughts about dental treatment here have been she...

Re: Temporary Fillings - More Pain Than Before?
The more I read the more confused I get. I'm sure I could live without the chewing ability but the stuff about shifting teeth (apparently the tooth next to the extracted one starts to grow into the space), sounds a but scary. So does the mere process of root canal and the thought of 2 or 3 visits sc...

Re: Temporary Fillings - More Pain Than Before?
Thanks VS. As I'm clueless about all things dental, it's useful to hear about the local dentists' root canal fetish! I have to say the dentist seemed pretty professional and was quite convincing. It seems a slick operation and the 100 baht x-ray of the offending molar was well explained as was what ...
