Re: Fire in Geronimo bar?
An unfortunate use of words but Richard was right in one respect, that customers who were well and truly over the limit and had passed out, were many years ago given a chance to sleep it off rather than just turfing them out into the street where they could be attacked or robbed. Saying that though ...

Re: Fire in Geronimo bar?
Richard is quite right about falangs sleeping on the premises. My Thai wife was the previous owner of the bar and in the five years we had it there were several occaisions when customers spent the night there, Not upstairs though, bar ladies rooms tend to be a bit of a shambles and it is far more se...

Re: Unrest in Hua Hin?
The soldiers were here for a couple of days last week prior to the King and Queen returning here to take up residence in the Kings Palace. Maybe because of an improvement in the King's health but more likely because of anticipated clashes between the red and yellow shirts in Bangkok when parliament ...

Re: Big C coming to Hua Hin
Popped in for some milk a couple of days ago, 5 Baht cheaper than the other stores, ending up with the wife spending 500 Baht! Prices all around seem to have come down since the store first opened and there were many bargains in most sections. Work on preparations for the constuctions of the outlets...

Re: Reel to reel videos
I tried Home Pro again, the first assistant said that they didn't stock silica gel but when I asked another one he led me straight to a selection of different sachets for clothing, shoes and cameras. I put some video cassettes with some of the packets, a bit of moisture on the gels after one day so ...

Re: Reel to reel videos
Thanks for the advice, I did try Homepro but nobody could help, possibly because they were all young assistants. Not too easy to access the head on the video player now as my cleaning kit seemed to have vanished when I moved my stuff out here but will try again, maybe an artists paint brush with a d...

Re: Reel to reel videos
Still having no luck finding a desiscant. I've tried contacting various distributors but either get no reply to my messages or get the standard reply that they only supply a minimum of 10,000. All the stores I've tried cannot assist me, probably because the staff are too young to have been around in...

Re: Big C coming to Hua Hin
Am I the only one who wasn't impressed. The bakery and frozen goods sections seem better than the other supermarkets but overall it appears to be more pricey. One I noticed was Pedigree dog food, 47 Baht in the shopping mall and 52.50 Baht there with many other items being 3 or 4 Baht more then else...

Re: More hassle for bar-owners..
The noise level I can understand, since they lost a large chunk of their pocket money when Lucky Lukes changed hands, but with this bar and the Butterfly Bar upping the decibels recently the police have probably decided to enforce new local laws I believe I am right in saying that local laws in Cha ...

Re: More hassle for bar-owners..
Definitely the bars being singled out. Just across the road from Bintabaht the small restaurants there have been so busy this year that they have put tables and chairs on the oavement, no doubt with tourist who had probably previously been drinking in the bars sat drinking there instead! So bad that...

Re: Big C coming to Hua Hin
The land in question where a Big C store is to built is just under 2km out of town, opposite the Luk Nam disco.
Some of the food vendors on the edge of the site have been notified that space will be available for them when the store eventually opens.

Re: Postal Delivery in Hua Hin
We have just gone through another drought with no sign of the postman in our street for three weeks, I received a letter a few days ago which had been date stamped by the Bangkok main sorting office 19 days earlier. The same happened in August last year when we went four weeks without normal deliver...

Re: Postal Delivery in Hua Hin
So, my questions to you are: - Is there any logic in Thai house numbering? If so, how does it work? The first numbers seems to be the postal district rather than the actual Soi no. The second set of numers appears to be the plot no. Our estate may be like yours where they only allocate a number when...
