Perhaps that is something new? When my son was born here in 1972 he was issued a normal Thai birth certificate and a US Dept. of State birth certificate confirming his USA citizenship. We were told then he had until his 20th birthday to declare if he wanted to retain his Thai nationality or not. I'v...

Electric Carts?

I've been asked to source an electric (battery) cart for a diabetic/double amputee coming to Thailand in October for a military reunion. Here in the Pattaya area I have never seen a shop that rents/sells anything other than normal wheelchairs. Anyone seen a rental outlet for these things in Bangkok ...

Re: pattaya hua hin ferry

I was in Hua Hin in 1989, and the hydrofoil ferry had just finished. It was quite a large ferry, and plied up the river from Bangkok to Pattaya, and than onwards to Hua Hin, before then returning to Bangkok. Friends told me the Journey up the river was superb, with a great view of the temple , famo...

Airasia is the official low fare carrier for Manchester United. (Does MU really fly low fare airlines?)

THE AIRLINE WITH BALLS. (Personally I would prefer an airline with breasts!) Pete

I've never heard of any of those transport methods and I've been hanging around Sin City more or less full time since 1993. Although, it could have happened during one of my blackout periods?....LOL. Pete

Sorry late reply, been busy moving. There are many hotels in that price range, some good some bad. Here is a link to what I think is the best in that range and, just dropped a friend off there this morning who always stays there and swears by it. Don't expect a "resort" but clean, safe and...

Just be sure not to make anyone lose face badly. This might have some unpredictable outcomes.. So true. Just moved to Naklua, north of Pattaya and much more reserved and quiet than Jomtien. However, a 68 year old farang resident of one of the nearby houses got into an argument with a 35 year old Th...

The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency". For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc. I think that is a great idea. But, will the ...

Alcohol Sales?

We touched on this subject in FOO but I don't have full details on what the law really says? Do you see bars in HH restricting beer and whisky sales during certain hours? I have noticed nothing different here in Pattaya, except my experience at Tesco Lotus the other day as mentioned in FOO. Pete

Forgot to mention something yesterday concerning alcohol sales. Walked into Tesco Lotus at 0930 the other morning. Picked up a case of Heineken and headed to the check out. A sign written in Thai was shoved in my face by the cashier saying something like I can't buy any booze before 1100 hours. Then...

Huh? What kind of madness is this? If this government persists with these absurd policies, the only thing "Unseen In Thailand" will be the tourists." There seems to be plenty of laws on the books that apply to Farangs only. One that comes quickly to mind is having relations with any ...

I have read on other forums that it is the Thai banks that are "holding" the funds before putting them in your account.... This is true. I know some unfortunate few here in Sin City where it took the better part of 20 days even with daily trips to the local branch to complain. One checked...

Any bank in the world where you have an account you can walk in and initiate an electronic wire transfer to any other bank in the world. It will cost you the equiv of about USD 26.00. At least in this way you can get the money from A to B in the first place. I also know that if you have an account w...

When I began to read your latest story Oe I was thinking that perhaps her boyfriend has instructed her to dress that way but, you dispelled that thought as I read further. You may be surprised how many nut cases in Pattaya tell their girlfriends to dress up in strange ways. A trip down Walking Stree...
