Re: "Nudity" on the streets of Hua Hin

Oh FFS. You can walk around many places in HH and you'll see Thai (yes mostly guys) shirtless, with builder's cracks etc. It's not limited to foreign tourists. Thai's go down the beach fully dressed in the day so as not to burn (obsessed with white skin) - nothing to do with respect. You'll find tha...

Re: Thai passport renewal ... 10 years?

Well, that would be very handy, my son's is due and that would save hours messing around in another province! But the Thai passport office is only 40 mins from here. No queues so no waiting. Only needs one visit and the passport is delivered in 2 days. My daughter did hers only last week. Super qui...

I used to use True Money but recently used their QR code. No problem. Accepted immediately and the points appeared also immediately.

Re: Citizens of 93 countries will soon need ETA permit to visit Thailand

It is new for Thailand (we're not talking about the US). I realise that but people give the impression that it's something the Thai government have invented to fleece the tourists. It's not only a requirement in the US but all over Europe and even in the UK. All the Thais are doing is implementing ...

Re: Citizens of 93 countries will soon need ETA permit to visit Thailand

I'm sure this is nothing new. It seems to be the equivalent of the ESTA which is required to enter the US. That's been in place for years.

Re: Banking apps - scan to pay

I've never had a problem scanning after midnight. In fact I've even scanned using BKK app when I was in the UK. I'd pop into your bank and see if they can give you an answer.

Re: Will the hi-tech cashless future leave a dinosaur like me behind?

Having just spent 3 months in the UK, I found it the norm not to use cash. Even in the pubs ordering just a single drink it was paid for with a 'beep' card.

Re: Thailand to introduce compulsory travel insurance/tourist tax

The concept of a tourist tax isn't a new one. City tax has long been the norm for many countries in Europe such as Greece, Spain and Germany . There are currently around 20 countries that levy a 'tourist tax'. Most are much more expensive than what is proposed in Thailand. However, we have to compl...

Re: Cataract Operation at Hua Hin Hospital

I always thought Dr. Pairat was joking when he said "Do you want a reading eye?" He wasn't. On completion he told me that I had a 'reading' eye. "Isn't that going to cause confusion?" "Of course not. Your brain will allow both eyes to work as one". He was right. I can s...
