Re: 2023 F1 News and Prediction League

Many thanks, pharvey, for organising this fine tournament of near Olympic importance. From the very beginning I expected to slide down the order in what has been traditional fashion for me over the years, but somehow that didn't happen. I wish I could say that it was raw skill or incredible knowledg...

Anywho, Parahandy sneaks ahead of Pete to take number 1 spot with a Yellow Cap
Oh no - not again! It was like this at the start of last year, and then I slid down the order like a monkey down a greasy pole. (Do monkeys slide down greasy poles?)

Sitting quietly on the roof terrace at 32 degrees with a gentle breeze to keep me cool and a glass of cheap Spanish bubbly in my hand. What more could I want? Woops. The scary sparkle just arrived. Gotta run...

Re: 2021 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Phew – what a relief! With apologies to the Righteous Brothers, I thought that… “I’d lost that winning feeling, It had gone, gone, gone, wohaoaho…” (Sorry, that was terrible...) Luckily, VS didn't see the results until today so got a decent night's sleep last night. It's gone all a bit quiet about h...

Re: 2020 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Oh dear, it just got worse. Not only do I have to listen to Hamilton on his soapbox, but now the Vital Sparklet has started talking to me. What's a man supposed to do??! Many thanks for organising and taking part in a great tournament. I only wish I had a system that I could sell, but in my case it ...

Re: 2020 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

I thought all the F1 teams were in a 'bubble'. I think it's actually good news that he won't be racing as it gives others a chance for that top step. Did I hear that George Russell may be given a drive in the super team? It'll be interesting to see what he's capable of in a very capable car.

Anybody else having trouble trying to register thier picks for Belgium? Being Belgium, of course, maybe it's the rain, but the website doesn't seem to be playing the game...

Woops! Panic over - the site seems to have righted itself. I'll get back into the box...

Re: 2020 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Flippin' Heck! What happened there? Didn't realise and she didn't tell me. I must admit that it's nice to be back amongst you lot after a year's sebatical. Thank you for allowing us back in. It's also nice to live in a warm country again after nine months in the UK. Here's hoping for the Hungarian s...

Re: 2018 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Thanks, Pete, and farewell for the winter from a cold, wet, windy and generally miserable England! (Why are Sparky and I here?!)

Hope to see y'all next year.

Re: 2016 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Congratulations to Red Zone Rocker on a thoroughly deserved win! I was with you until America, but I blame Trump for that... There was also another reason, which Pete kindly pointed out some weeks earlier when we were level pegging: RZR and Parahandy are now tied for 1st place, with RZR in the techn...

Re: 2016 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Just to add to what Old Sparkle was saying above, I was darned lucky to stay anywhere near the top without having the first idea what was going on in the world of F1. Nobody told me that those blue things were going round and round in circles a bit faster than those red things. Now may the fun start...

Re: 2015 F1 News and Prediction Tournament

Excuse me, but as Vital Thingy's vanquished husband, I would like to know who's paying for all this champagne, and is there some form of booby prize?

Especially for vanquished husbands...

P

(Thanks Pete and congrats to all the winners, and may they pay for their own champers...)

I am shocked an horrified by the slights and innuendos appearing here regarding my cheese. May I set the record straight and emphasise that I do not limit myself only to socks in my cheese-making, and that many of the socks that I do use are relatively modern - some even emanating from this century,...

Re: Side trip to Vietnam questions

Planning on taking a sleeper train? Don't. The seats are the beds. The seats don't fold, move, adjust or morph into beds: the seats are the beds. Spectacularly uncomfortable as seats. What's worse is the upstairs "seats" can't be sat in. The people with those seats expect to share the sea...

... and may we thank everybody involved in the evening for making it such fun. This obviously includes Big Boy and Norseman for helping to organise the event, who both battled against all odds to make it happen, and it did! Above all else, it includes everybody there - it was interesting to meet peo...
