Re: Weekend Trains HUA HIN to CHUMPHON
The 1715 train possibly will lose time to Chumpon, but I went on the 1115 am train? once and it went like Usain Bolt, I think it had arrived 45 late in HH and but only about 10 minutes late in Chumpon. A big problem with the 1300 train from Bangkok, it has about 16 coaches, and passengers waiting at...

Re: Styles of music available at local Hua Hin bars?
The music can be painfully loud but I do enjoy an hour in Lucky Lukes2 on the corner of Bintabaht and Poonsuk, I'm sure you can hear the siren in Kao Takiab, but you won't see the bubbles there. The DJ is a bit Ting Tong but he's OK, he does change the music too much though, just when you are gettin...

Re: Gout
I have only read this page of the topic, but I have had gout for 40 years or more. I take one Allopurinal per day and have had no problems since, when I first had gout the pain was Jep mak Mak.

Re: Khao Takiab, Taxi and accomodation info required
I will probably come over for just over 3 weeks, but not until November, a couple of days in Bangkok, then a week in town, a week in KT and then a week back in town again. Of course TIT and things can change, as we all know. When I am in Thailand I try to stay somewhere central yet quiet, it is good...

Re: Weekend Trains HUA HIN to CHUMPHON
The 1300 from Bangkok is usually 20-30 minutes late when it reaches Hua Hin, once on the train go to the restaurant car and have a beer or two, a meal costs 90 baht, no pressure to vacate the seat. In second class the seats are made up into beds as the train heads south. Tiger, I like your board nam...

Re: Weekend Trains HUA HIN to CHUMPHON
Normally, trains are the same time every day of the week. I have been on a train from HH to Chumpon about 11am so probably the same one, it is called a special Sprinter train. It will consist of 2 air Con carriages, the fares are quite a lot higher than the 1715hrs train, but you do get a drink of w...

Khao Takiab, Taxi and accomodation info required
For those BMs who read my TRs you will know that this year I stayed at El Murphys for a week, then headed south to Koh Tao and then returned for a week to Join One guesthouse. For November I am thinking of having a week in town, staying either Murphys, Jings or Join 1, then going to Khao Takiab for ...

I am not sure if it is keeping it's old name, I guess that the bar may be waiting for a new sign. It had a small sign outside saying there was a party around 5th February, but other than a few balloons it didn't attract much attention, even from the balloon chasers. One or two bars along that Soi se...

Are you a regular at Maharajah ?
I had a lovely meal at the Maharajah restaurant in February, and will definitely visit again when I come to HH. Now I need a favour  if you are a regular there, can you take a digital image of the Venice painting for me. Could you e-mail it to p.geary@ntlworld.com I need to find out the name o...

Cheers dane, missed that. The single line operation does look a bit dodgy, when I went to kanchanaburi on the double track section we were side by side with another train for several miles. The drivers exchange staffs for different sections of track, quite a lot of freight container trains on the HH...
