Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
With so much uncertainty around visa extensions, the risk of being forced back to Oz, paying an exorbitant airfare, and then getting stuck there for who knows how long, I've bitten the bullet and gone with an agent. Not cheap, but it is a looong extension. Hopefully, things will be back to normal by...

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
My visa expires on May 2. That will be 4 months in Thailand. Visa runs and KL hops are out of the question. At this stage we don't know whether there will be another 30 day extension from the Thai gov. I was advised by the IO processing my extension to get an email from The Australian Embassy to ena...

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
What a circus this all is. Is there a Thai word for 'simple'?
What happens after April 30? Another30 days automatic extension if nothing has improved?

There are a few threads on this problem on the TV forum. I'm not allowed to share links so DM if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
After considering missing my appointment with immigration for the 30 day visa exempt renewal, I decided not to take the risk. I went around 1.30pm. Maybe 50-60 people in all. It was more convoluted, compared to Blueport, but all the staff were very pleasant and efficient.

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
There is some debate over the term 'tourist visa' in the announcement today, and whether it refers to 'visa exempt' specifically.

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
It seems arbitrary to me. It still forces many people to crowd together for hours AND provide documents, some of which may be impossible to acquire, such as embassy letters, proof of flight cancellations, tickets for outward flights, etc - not to mention dragging the hotel owner along to verify your...

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
Now they are allowing extensions - to tourists ONLY - who arrived AFTER March 1. Announcement just made. Richard Barrow has the vid on Twitter. Not sure how long the extension is. I think there will be some follow up news.

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
I'm going tomorrow to get a 30 day extension for my visa exempt. I'll report back.
A lot of posts I see don't make it clear what kind of visa they are on, or how many extensions they may have had.

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions
Is this standard now for a basic 30 day extension? I'm up on Thursday, have no embassy letters, and no flight booked. Why would I want to fly anywhere? I don't want to leave the house at all. Australia has 6 baggage handlers with Covid19 now. QANTAS has also cancelled all international flights. Are ...
