Villa Market - beware out of date goods

Recently, we went to the small Villa Market in the centre of town. We were in a rush and only when we got home did we notice that both the milk and yoghurt that we had bought was already out of date. In a small contribution to plastic reduction we had, some time before, bought four of their canvas b...

Re: New Election Rules Designed to Keep Junta in Power

Given that it has taken four months and counting to sort out the relatively short stretch of road leading to the flyover into town, nothing surprises me!

Pool maintenance

Having bought a house and been living here for a year, I cannot say I am over impressed with my pool maintenance company - no names no pack drill!

Any suggestions or recommendations please?

Re: Interior light bulb for Siemens refrigerator

I discovered the company managing Siemens as they no longer have their own services here. The product has been ordered from Germany!

Thanks for all who assisted.

Re: Itinerary for a road trip to Laos

One question. If travelling by road, can you drive into Laos and tour in your own car? The seemingly obvious issue is insurance - brokers have told me we are effectively landlocked in all directions - Malaysia, Vietnam etc.

Thanks!

Re: Clean Hua Hin's beaches movement - Trash Hero

A very interesting topic and excellent reporting, all of you are doing an outstanding job! I have two questions: 1. What approximate proportion of beach rubbish is brought in by the tide versus dropped by beach goers? 2. What is the approximate mix of Thai versus expat individuals within the beach c...

Re: Interior light bulb for Siemens refrigerator

I have tried all the known ones and a few more besides. When I show them the old bulb they glaze over. But I’m used to that!

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

I had solar panels fitted last summer. I have a 7Kw system, no batteries and the cost is around 275,000 Baht. It takes less than two days to install completely. I will keep this simple: 1. I don’t like the appearance of the panels, they are ugly, so I insisted on them being installed on my east faci...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

I had solar installed in July of this year. Cost for 20 high grade panels and including installation, converters (DC to AC) etc 300,000. It produces around 30Kw on a good sunny day and has reduced my electric bills by around 70%. Estimated payback 6 years.

Re: Wristwatch Repair / Service

I used the Market Village watch repair shop for my wife’s Longines. Great battery just a shame 3 of the 6 screws in the back were broken! Don’t touch with a barge pole! Clumsy beyond imagination.
