I have heard people openly saying they will NOT go to Thailand anymore due to the political situation, the gouging that goes on, the infrastructure of some of the places lacking somewhat etc, etc. But the one that DID suprise me was quite a few people are saying they wont come because of the xenopho...

Pookie If I go into my local branch here in Australia to make a withdrawal, we get charged $3.00 for the privilidge. I only used it the other week as I needed to withdraw more than the normal $1000 daily limit at atm. I would imagine there would have to be a service charge of some sort applied. The...

I'm wondering if its still possible to walk up to an exchange booth, with passport and card, hand both over and say "please gimme 15,000TBH" Would the lazy cusses just point to the ATM standing next to the booth, or would they make the transaction? If so, apart from the usual home bank ban...

Maybe, just maybe, some of the problem might be that expats aren't necessarily bringing money into the country any more? Why put 400K or 800K in a Thai bank account when you can qualify for a marriage/retirement extension on income and leave your money at home? Just use the ATM. That's what I've al...

I use DTAC (Happy Network) and always put 009 before the "normal" number.
For instance, for calls to UK:
Usually you would dial 0044-141-123-1234.
Using the above method, you would dial 009-44-141-123-1234
You will be suprised at how much longer your topups last using the above

Thanks Pookie, That website wouldn't load for me (EDIT - just loaded) and it certainly states 1-10 years!?!? Never heard of that before, maybe if you keep failing the test each year ....... :D Cheers, SJ I have a feeling that this Ed Visa is the next on the list to be (shall we say) "looked in...

No, the 1,900 Baht 90 day extensions are not included in the price, 'student' pays all visa fees and associated travelling costs, the schools just assist with documentation. The school's website does state what is included in the price, ie: no visa fees, but could be clearer, seen similar criticism...

I’ve no personal experience of any of this, but I’ve looked around the web and there are many schools in Thailand clearly stating that you can stay for one year without leaving if you report every 90 days and pay a 1,900 bt administration fee. It seems that to get this is has to be a school registe...

I'll just get me coat... Oh, maybe not. Thank you for your insight Pookie, but, really you have no idea. I'm not going to get into this in a public forum, but if you do good things here, people do notice. Some very prominent people in HH have noticed and commended us for what we do. Only today, I h...

Unless you are financially secure for the rest of your life when the time comes to settle in Thailand, then its, frankly, going to be an uphill struggle just to survive. Its NEVER been a good idea to rely on an income from working in Thailand......not in the past, the present, or the future. The cul...
