Re: Stableford Points Lakeview
Lake View is one of the few courses in Thailand without a Slope & Course Rating. Most societies when playing there use an SSS of 72 on A/B and 74 on C/D. Any other combination is usually 73. The Stroke index per hole is odd on A & C and even on B & D. If you play A & C then add 1 to ...

Re: Why do expats settle for horrible relationships with Thai girls who hate them?
If you have a relationship with a Thai woman and you want it to be full-time then she has to give up whatever job she is doing to be with you (many jobs here for Thais are 60-80 hours per week, 7 days per week and very few holidays. Many relationships are with Thai women from Isaan who still have ch...

Re: Certificate of Life
Thanks everyone for the input. A bank it seems is not acceptable for a Dutch insurance company. Anyway I went to the Municipality in Hua Hin. They told me that they don't do it and that I would have to go to Immigration. I went to Immigration and they told me that they do not do it and that I would ...

Re: Why do expats settle for horrible relationships with Thai girls who hate them?
Thai girls have the knack of making an old farang feel as if he's 25 again. There are some stupid farangs out there who actually believe their Thai girl friends are head over heels in love with them. As a farang you have to remember that when a Thai girl first meets you she sees you as a walking ATM...

Re: Certificate of Life
It's for a Dutch pension. It has to be done every year. All it needs is a signature and a company or government stamp. Where are the lawyers next to Macro situated?

Certificate of Life
My pension company needs to receive a "certificate of Life" every year. This form needs to be signed and stamped by a notary public, a consulate, the Thai local authority or a doctor. Last year I went to San Paulo hospital to have this signed. It cost me 1,500 Baht. Does anyone know if thi...

Re: Music - Your Favourites
For music to be really good it has to pass the test of time. Songs of Gershwin, Porter, Kern, Mercer, Berlin, etc. are still often being played 80 years on. I wonder how much of the music of the last 50 years will still be around in 2150.

Electric Gate Repair
I am having trouble with my Electric Gate. When I press the remote it quite often only opens 2 feet. I have to press the remote to close it again and then try again. Sometimes I have to do this 6 or 7 times before the gate opens. I have looked at the mechanism but see no difference in the way it wor...

Re: Mobile phone, ISP and electrical questions
In general Thailand, as far as internet en GSM is concerned, is equal to the Western world. You can get very fast internet at home including about 90 TV channels for less than $30 a month (50 meg download/20 Meg upload). The best providers are True, BBB and AIS). If you are here permanently then a m...

Re: Travel in Siem Reap, Cambodia
Don't forget that the American Dollar is the standard currency. They do have a local currency but everyone wants dollars because their own currency keeps fluctuating. I am also pretty sure that you can't take a car over the border. Check this out if you intend to do that. There are several big casin...

FRom 4 to 36 with an average under 20. Enjoyment is 10 times more important than prestations although we do play to the rules of golf with a few practical local rules.

RIP David "Mary" Herd
Manchester United’s legendary striker David Herd has sadly passed away aged 82. Herd grew up in Moss Side and started his career at Stockport County before moving to Arsenal, where he scored 107 goals in 180 appearances. He still remains their 16th highest ever goalscorer and reached 100 goals in fe...
