Re: The 90 Day Report Thread

So maybe I reported too soon, But surely the online system wouldn't know that anyway? However they were happy to do the 30 day renewal at Bluport today! No skin off my nose in the long run.

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

Twisted Metal is 10 x 30 minute episodes of post-apocalypse style road trip action. Guns, explosions, guns on cars, and humour and love story. Based on the old Playstation game, but there's no brutal car rollerderby action, and I can see that will maybe be the basis of the second season. Not sure i...

Re: The Recommended Movies Thread

A remake of the incredibly popular Swedish movie Let the Right One In (2008) which I now need to watch, Let Me In (2010) is an outstanding movie. Starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Richard Jenkins, this vampire flick has easily moved into my top 20. :D You were doing so well there, I was almost on the...

Re: The 90 Day Report Thread

So, even more weird then. I read this morning on another forum that you can't, but I have a feeling that I did it online last time I returned too, although I can't remember. In that case there seems no explanation then why my attempt last week was twice rejected.

Thanks for the input guys.

Re: The 90 Day Report Thread

I've checked my problem and now see that the first 90 day extension after leaving the country must be at an immigration office, not online. I'm sure I knew this but it's been a while since I flew overseas. Heigh ho!

Re: All imported goods now face 7% VAT

Amazed nobody has commented on this, it will affect all purchases from Lazada that are not local. That said, stuff may still work out cheaper from China ... got a feeling this is a knee-jerk reaction to the elephant pants fiasco. Please tell me about the 'elephant pants fiasco'! Actually, I'm now g...

Re: Buying naan bread in Hua Hin

Makro have a good selection of frozen Indian breads. Their parathas fry up well, I don't know about their naan. I may have seen fresh (well, unfrozen) naan in Villa Market, maybe someone else can confirm this.

Re: Making a good stew (Beef or other)

A curry is most definitely a stew. The fact that Westerners use the word and Asians don't is irrelevant. People decide which meat and other ingredients they want to use, put them in a pot and cook it slowly, that's what stew means. Local 'definitions' may deviate (Lancastrians note), just as a cooke...

Yep, that's as I said. Don't know what's wrong with my application then. Thanks.

Re: The 90 Day Report Thread

I've reported online for years, but the service now has a problem it seems. My report last week was rejected, the email telling me so quoted: 'incomplete information provided'. I tried again yesterday and again rejected, no reason given this time. My reporting date is next week. I filled in the form...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

Having checked the UK's double taxation agreement with Thailand, and as all of my income comes from the UK, I am really not bothered about this new taxation. All I am waiting for is if I am required to report details of my UK income, where and how do I do so? I agree. I only have UK income, and tha...

Re: Dubai airport (DXB) flooded

I too was caught up in the chaos and mayhem at Dubai airport after the storm. We arrived at 0300 on Wednesday and finally departed to BKK at 6pm on Friday. The airport went into meltdown. No Emirates staff to be seen, no accommodation offered, no food and an 8.5 hour melee in the connections office...

Re: Hua Hin water shortage

Has anybody else noticed the different smell of water since Songkran? My daughter (doesn't live at my house) mentioned it a couple of days ago. She doesn't have a tank, and says the (she thinks its chlorine) smell is very strong. We have a massive tank, but the smell is gradually becoming more prom...

Re: Dubai airport (DXB) flooded

I used to work in the region and witnessed some fairly drastic storms, but these were normally in November or December so no doubt another link to the impact of global warming. Dubai government sent seven cloud seeding planes up on Monday and Tuesday, but they are denying that that could be even pa...
