Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

Can anyone explain what the Thai thinking could be behind the reluctance to admit the boys were sedated for the trip out? I really don't get it. If one or more had died then I would understand the reluctance somewhat... but heck they are all out and doing so much better than anyone could have hoped...

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

Awesome end to an amazing effort by all involved.

Cave divers are a special group of people with amazing calmness when faced with would normally be an emergency. I'm proud to have known and dove with many.

I'll just say this. In 40 years I've only met one Psychiatrist that wasn't a Narcissistic arsehole who put the good of the patient before their own agenda.

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

Can I have some of what these guys are smoking? Looking at that drawing they clearly don't understand what "underwater: means. Only time effort is needed in SCUBA is when working against a flow. Otherwise cave divers use a very efficient Frog kick that does not stir up muck and is easy on the leg mu...

for the highly experienced Brit rescuers it's a 3hr hike to get to the boys.
Actually, it's very relaxing. You don't feel the weight of the gear. Only taxing part is swimming against a current.

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

The point is with not knowing how to swim; the natural reactive aversion of being not only IN the water, but under it. These kids obviously have some grit to come as far as they have, but from my experience with HUET training even full grown adults will panic. And that is in a controlled environmen...

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

better than having them wear heavy and bulky tanks. Pete  If it were me doing the rescue, I'd tie a rope between me and the kid. I'd give him my 7ft (that's the long hose cave divers have wrapped around their neck) with mouthpiece, wetsuit, weight belt, and that's all. I would handle tank m...

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

Training shouldn't be a problem. They're teenage boys. Always up for an adventure. Problem will be now that threy've had a taste of it, under the worst conditions, how to satisfy their desire for more. I agree on the black water diving. Done more than I care to ever again. Fortunately, cave divers i...
