I have bought it there - smart product!

I've many times managed to pay the Thai admission to museums, national parks etc by showing my yellow housebook and/or Thai driver's license. Anything that can prove you are a resident rather than a tourist seems to do the trick. I agree with Wanderlust regarding this particular example of dual pric...

Sorry, just realised I was wrong in an earlier post where I said I remembered reading somewhere that China got rid of corruption by implementing an ambitious programme. China is still corrupted of course – no. 72 on the Transparency International list, only 12 steps better than Thailand. Now I start...

OK, so you've all decided that Thailand is no more corrupted than our home countries. I guess the fact that Denmark, Finland and Sweden (where I come from) are no. 1, 2 and 4 respectively on the corruption list published by Transparency International is the result of ...corruption??? And that Thaila...

This is an interesting thread, but, sorry, I have to disagree with many of the posters. Corruption is a lot worse here in Thailand than anywhere in Europe. Sure there are corrupted politicians in Europe too, but they are more like exceptions to the rule. Here the corruption is the rule, the fuel of ...

Taxes involved in selling a property?
I’d be grateful if anybody could answer this question:
Now that the land transfer registration fee has been reduced to almost nothing (0,01 %), does this mean that there are in reality no longer any considerable “tax costs” involved in selling a company-owned property?

I was at the auction and can report that all the condo units were sold at surprisingly high prices. The discount compared to listed prices were in all cases as small as within the 5-7 % range, although, as said above, the units were all on floors 1 - 4 and without sea view. Is the market picking up ...

Thank you Steve and Tigger, I consider it confirmed that I will not be able to find what I look for here in Thailand. Timberex and Faxe are two other floor oil brands that I know of and the same goes for them - they have distributors in Japan but not here. Perhaps this is a potential business idea f...

Oil for treating wood floor
Can somebody please direct me to somewhere where I can buy oil for wood floors? A shop or an agent company, perhaps. (Homepro and the likes does not have it. They have something called woodstain but it's not the same thing, I understand, and is not meant for floors either.) It's OK if I have to go t...

I think that if you benchmark condos against Hilton, Sport Villa as well as Condochain wll make you disappointed. Perhaps you'd better look at condos like Baan Chai Talay or Baan San Saran on the south side or Palm Pavillion on the north side. They are nicer but of course also more expensive. Make a...
