Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

Also, Thailand has much to gain from the EV industry: “It creates opportunities for business linkages and elevates Thailand's electric vehicle industry supply chain to a strong position, becoming a crucial manufacturing base for the future global automotive industry," Narit added. BOI investmen...

Thailand ... triple. :duck:
I've just had a look at the difference in prices between all the BYD models sold in Thailand and China and basically they're pretty consistently about 30% more in Thailand.

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

To be honest, I would be far happier if this thread was just about the EV cars available in Thailand and which one to buy but it's full of endless posts from people who clearly have no interest in them. That would be nice, and maybe a new thread needs to be started .. "EV in Thailand", as...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

At the moment, the Atto 3 is looking the favourite for me but I'll probably be buying early next year and there are many new models in the pipeline so I'm looking at anything that comes along. Actually, I've no interest in long distance driving and something like the Netta V or the BYD Dolphin would...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

I did say before that I wasn't anti-EV ... and didn't want arguments, but there are too many ev angelists in this thread, so I'm outta here and back to observation mode ... To be honest, I would be far happier if this thread was just about the EV cars available in Thailand and which one to buy but ...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

This whole thread is full of negativity about EVs but I notice that since it started in 2017, worldwide sales have gone from around 1 million a year to about 15 million.

Yet another new model from BYD: BYD launches sleek new Tesla Model Y rivaling Sea Lion 07 electric SUV starting at $26K https://electrek.co/2024/05/13/byd-launches-tesla-model-y-rivaling-sea-lion-07-starting-26k/ I’d take the $$$ price with a pinch of salt. A Man Was Ordered to Build a Fence to Hide His Boat. He Asked an Artist to Paint the Boat on the Fence There’s a new high water mark for passive aggressiveness in the visual arts—and the pun is intended. When the town of Seaside, California ordered homeowner Etienne Constable to build a fence to con...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

^As far as Thailand goes, I think that access to cheap EVs from China combined with abundant solar resources will be the main driver of change. There is a point in the not too distant future when the realisation will come that drilling stuff out of a desert, shipping it over 8,000 km and trashing th...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

How does that work for the millions of people who live in apartments and condos without a socket in each parking bay and being charged double for their power? I live in an apartment like that in Luxembourg so I don't have a car, an ebike is more practical. In Thailand, you can buy electric motorcyc...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

If EVs take off in Thailand and become the norm as y'all hope for, how will the charging stations cope? During busy times and long weekends (when most Thais hit the roads), gas stations are rammed with vehicles (98% ICE), if even a quarter of them were EVs, the waiting times to get a charging space...

^The other major problem is that Suvarnabhumi is comparatively near. It's hard to be successful with an airport that's only a three hour drive away from a large established one.

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

But, the real question I guess is how does this "strangle innovation" when allowing a Chinese Invasion takes all? To be honest, when I see how many western car companies are behaving, I get the impression that they've actually already given up and instead of trying to compete, they're jus...
