Re: Hua Hin water shortage
Note: apart from being illegal, which in Thailand does not amount to much, a house pump should NEVER be connectd directly to the mains supply! I remember that some years ago there were water supply problems in Hua Hin and some large hotels were found to be illegally doing that, they were maintainin...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand
Usually, this 6-8 year return is calculated on the current household electricity bill (before solar is installed). Most people will try and use the minimum amount of air conditioners possible as they're (justifiably) concerned about their electricity bill. My house has 5 air conditioners. Before my...

Yes, it's very impressive scenery, I've never seen so many tall rock stacks like that in one place before.

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand
^ To be honest, as long as the price is reasonable I'm just going to do it. At the moment I'm still working and can easily afford it but in a few years I'll be retired and keeping costs down will be more of a priority, so I'll just do a quick rough calculation and as long as it looks like it will pa...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand
Has anyone done a recent review of the payback for having solar power installed - I’m sure that if these sort of temperatures become the norm then more people will want to consider solar? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm not in Thailand at the moment but I'm trying to get my partner to go to ...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
This is where I believe Thailand will be heading very soon: History has been made over the period April 1-14, sales of new energy vehicles (NEV) exceeded half of all car sales in China. New energy vehicles is a Chinese umbrella term encompassing a number of types but in reality means largely pure el...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
This article is specifically UK biased... I think Thailand will be different. In the west, you have a lot of very big money, the oil companies and many established car companies, very actively trying to stop the adoption of electric cars. In Thailand, there is a lot of big established money going i...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
I was reading some BYD promotions for Thailand yesterday and they were offering a free charger installation for your home. As for MG EVs, I'm increasingly seeing them being used as taxis here in Luxembourg which is interesting because when I first came to work here, nearly every taxi was a diesel Me...

Re: Menu/food prices rising in Thailand
^I suppose that imported food sold in Thailand is seen as something of a luxury so is priced accordingly. Back where it came from, everyone is buying it so it's much more price sensitive.
