Re: Vietnamese Pho
Check out Mekong Cafe, a Vietnamese cafe / restaurant right next to the driveway entrance to Market Village: https://goo.gl/QpGaTO I've had pho there, it was good, and it seemed authentic enough to me. Note that I'm not sure Mekong is still open, by the way, as I noticed a "Business for sale&qu...

Re: Thai Boxing stadium in Hua Hin
There are two muay thai stadiums in town, right? One in the center, somewhere between City Beach Hotel and Hilton, and one right by the Grand Plaza night market?
So one of them has matches Wednesday and Friday. How about the other one -- I seem to remember Tuesdays and Thursdays, is that correct?

Re: Moaning about Hua Hin/Thailand
On the very rare occasions that blatantly racist remarks have been made, they've been swiftly stamped on by the Mods. If moe feels that doesn't go far enough, he's entitled to say so, though I'd disagree. I absolutely do not wish for any censorship in the forums, just to make that clear. (I wouldn'...

Re: Moaning about Hua Hin/Thailand
You imply that 'farangs' are racist No, I really didn't. That generalization is fully in your own head. What I wrote was that the lazy generalizations of "This is Thailand", "the Thais this and that", "typical Thai so-and-so" etc, seen again and again from a significan...

Re: Moaning about Hua Hin/Thailand
As a fairly new forum member, and a semi-frequent visitor of Hua Hin for the last 5-6 years (currently staying for a 6 month stretch), I 've got to say the incessant moaning in the forums took me by some surprise. This is where you live, in one of the best climates on the face of the Earth, with som...

Re: What's the hottest (chilli) food you've ever eaten?
What's the most spicy ordinary Thai food you can find regularly at restaurants here in Hua Hin? Ie is there something that stands out like the vindaloo for Indian food? I usually go "pet maak maak, pet thai" when I order dishes that seems suitable for being served hot, like curries, laab s...

Seems like that'd be the category with the hardest competition, by a good margin.dtaai-maai wrote:Best Whinger, for the poster with the most complaints about life in Thailand.

The hair dresser at the 3rd floor at Market Village, who seem to work often with falang kids. Relatively expensive, though, at about 300-350 baht for a straightforward cut.

Re: Best salad in Hua Hin?
Best salad you can get in Hua Hin in my opinion is the greek salad at the restaurant at Anantasila. Should be simple enough to make a good greek, but somehow they manage to f*** it up most places, in different ways, Thailand and elsewhere. However, Anantasila's is better than what you usually get in...

Re: Premier League 2013-2014
Re officiating with regard to fouls and cheating: The most frustrating thing in general about this is that the FA doesn't use the opportunity they now have, since the advent of post-match video reviews, to stamp out cheating / diving. I mean, they already do a review to look at situations where it i...

Re: Attractions for young children in Hua Hin.
Can anyone tell me is the beach the other side of monkey mountain any better for little one's than Hua Hin beach i have never ventured right down in to Koh Takiab. ("Koh"? It's not an island.) The beaches at Khao Takiap and Suan Son, a little further south, are way better than the beaches...

Re: Attractions for young children in Hua Hin.
6. On weekends they have arts and crafts classes for kids at the school that teaches fine arts, just a short way over the bridge heading south from Hua-Hin. I think it's about 200 for a few hours. Quite good if you need some alone time as well. For my older kids, this sounds really interesting. Any...

Re: Sushi cravings
I cannot find an online menu for Hagi, but being a hotel restaurant they might be priced accordingly :-/ Hagi is indeed quite expensive, by Thai standards. I'd second the recommendation for Fuji at the 2nd floor of Market Village. Excellent value for money, and they have a lot of different dishes t...

No milk in shops?
Doing some shopping for vacation guests with children, I've found the Tesco south of the overpass completely out of milk for at least two days (except soy milk and chocolate milk) and same for my nearest 7/11. Never seen that before, anyone know what could be going on? Also, if anyone reading this h...
