Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
My old 80 year old plus, friend just got back from being in Hua Hin for 2 months. He said that if he did not have his own motorbike, and was able to travel around to get rid of boredom, he would not have enjoyed his stay very much. Only 2 other expats that he knew and talked with were still around. ...

Re: Coronavirus Precautions/News/Updates for Hua Hin/Prachuap
Well I go out to places, like McDonalds and shopping malls, but I still mask up unless I am eating or drinking. Two days ago one of my 80+ year old coffee pals called and he had come to meet with us even though he had been feeling badly that morning, as he thought it was only a cold. His wife phoned...

Re: Covid-19 Omicron Variant
Omicron is still new, but is is still killing people all over the world. Maybe not as many people are dying from it as are dying from the Delta variant, but it is still new, and the data is still being gathered. The COVID cases are spiking in many parts of the world and the hospitals are becoming st...

Restaurants allowed to sell Alcohol
Is it true that restaurants are finally allowed to sell alcohol again?
I hope so as it is about time. I do hope that
some bar will be allowed to open in January as well.
Just my thoughts.

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
Correction of my last message, I meant the bars on Soi 88, near the tracks. I still enjoy soi 88 with its bars and pool tables, lost many a game there. Since I usually stay along soi 94, I guess I will not have to go far to get to the new bar area, I just hope it is not too noisy, but the place I st...

Re: Tough action against Hua Hin beach encroachers/demolition of pier restaurants
Wow, seeing that Walk about video, is an eye opener. The place will look a lot different if all the illegal places get torn down. I guess the street can get widened a bit. Lots of fond memories from us old travelers who have been visiting Hua Hin since the 70s. I have had a lot of good meals in many...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
Maybe by December and the hoards of tourists are pouring into Thailand like rain drops the Thai government in their wisdom will finally relax some rules. I have fond memories of having a few drinks quite often at the place in soi 99. and a few places in Binta baht and the other bar street. I hope th...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
My old Canadian friend will likely be back to Hua Hin in December, if the rules and restrictions have become reasonable, his son has a house there. Another friend from Alberta will also be back with his Thai wife as well, because they have a nice house in the south part of Hua Hin. If the Quarantine...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
My old friend is 82 and is planning to come to Thailand in October for the Winter. I hope he is able to get there with his 2 Pfizer shots, and get to Hua Hin, without any quarantine. His son was there until May 12th, and said that it sure was quiet for his stay. He spent 16 days in Vancouver BC in q...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues
As much as I enjoy Hua Hin, I will be staying in Canada until next year.
Next year I may spend most my visit in Vietnam as my family wants
me to see their sights, and I want to save money. Thailand is not as cheap
anymore anyway. Hope you Hinners have a great Fall and Winter.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
I read that somewhere a guy only lasted 13 days of quarantine and jumped to his death. I was able to last 21 days in my basement, and was happy to see outside for sure after that, but with a laptop and phone, my sanity was still mostly intact. Hope that those of you who have to self isolate, will re...

Re: Navy presses for 2nd Chinese sub
Navy needs new leadership, and so glad the government basically is saying the same, by suspending
the order for now. They can now suspend the leader of the Navy until he gets replaced.
My opinion anyway.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News
with all the sad news of the Covid virus, did you hear of the Alton Illinois
mayor's wife getting arrested for being at a party at a tavern. Must have been a big loss of
face for the Mayor, when his wife did not listen to his advice.

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Well the Virus is affecting the USA in a big way. Those Americans seem to need to do things in a big way I guess, I see that MAGA thing and growl, as America will be the way it will be and does not have to be Great again, as times are not like they were. This virus has killed a lot of people, but on...

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
I find it amazing thazt there is only 1 official death from the virus, me thinks the Government is fibbing a lot on this stat. I just read that the UK is limiting their people to a crxowd of 2, and yet seeing the pictures of people in Bangkok at the MuChit BTS station a huge crowd leaving for up cou...
