Re: Dentist recommendation

I really like Nana. Done some brilliant for me. We agreed a budget, and everything was completed within that budget, including having to correct a NHS bodge job from years ago - included a bone graft, which added 6 months to my treatment time. I was very happy with their work. I doubt anybody in tow...

What a road. Looks more like a F1 race track.

Re: Speed Cameras

Maybe simply revenue collection. Driving to and from Buriram last year there were several places where the speed limit dropped dramatically along a very short stretch, and was restored as soon as you passed the speed camera. IMHO no obvious reason apart from toll collection.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

I think what you are hinting at is the 'grey area'. If your P60 e.g. shows you earn/pay tax on £10K, but you are bringing £16K in to Thailand each year, the additional £6K hasn't been taxed in year, so will be liable for Thai taxation. Maybe I'm over-simplifying, or crediting Thai revenue with too m...

Just checked my photos - your recollection is correct :D

No, I'm not doubting what you say. Just saying the photos depict a cave more like the Ha Long cave, rather than Ratchaburi. Beautiful cave, regardless.

Nice cave. Better than the one in Ratchaburi I think, but looks on a par with the one in Ha Long Bay.

I've been looking further into the Grand Western, and found this posted a week ago:

Obviously diversifying from the hotel business. A BIG shame.

Re: Hotel in Huaymaiteng, Ratchaburi

Thanks for the recommendations. I should be able to find an option from them and I think I'm going to choose Baan Tara Spa after checking online. But the first choice would have been your regular hotel, the Western Grand, I like the old style, but on booking.com I get the message that they do not t...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

I agree, that's where I'm standing at the moment also. I can see there will be a lot of people from the UK who will fall into grey areas though. I did consider going to the talk, but decided there were others whose need to know would be far greater than mine. With the limited audience capacity, best...

Re: Thai Minimum Wage Increase

I thought I read it had come into force about 2/3 weeks ago. Or was that just the ruling, with implementation later. If that is the case. it was just a bit more political propaganda, with no real substance. There seems to be a lot of we're doing this or doing that, but implementation is incredibly s...

Re: Thai Minimum Wage Increase

Who actually polices payment of minimum wage. I've seen all of the minimum wage for 10 provinces raising to 400฿/day propaganda. However, I still see advertisement after advertisement on Social Media offering jobs in Hua Hin for between 300 and 350฿/day. How do they get away with it?
