Re: The Beer Thread 2

Not sure if this has been mentioned before. Nite Hunter has a new-to-me IPA. The ABV is 6.8% with an IBU of 45. I like it. I still like the M32 IPA better, but this is pretty good. As expected, it's brewed in Chachoengsao by Thai Spirit Industries. I bought the last two that Lotus's Cha Am had on di...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

I'm surprised nobody has actually posted any info from the RD on what is expected. RD will be looking at all income from overseas, Thais and expats (anyone residing here 180 days of the year) <snip> In other words, nothing has changed except the bit about when the income is earned. Those of us with...

Re: Thailand plans to decriminalize cannabis

The pm lives in Lala land. Ganga had been available practically everywhere from years ago. My first trip up in 1979/80, any hotel bellboy worth his salt could get you some. People have short memories, don't they. It wasn't so long ago that the tobacco ladies at most fresh markets kept a tin of ganj...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

Yes, I think that is my understanding. The only grey area for me is if I were to transfer the remaining 30K in year 2, together with year 2's 50K. I am assuming the 30K from year 1 would be taxable in year 2. That's the way I see it. In any event, it seems that it will be somewhat of a nightmare to...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

I've read a bunch and am still a bit baffled. Here's portion of the text of the US agreement: 1. Subject to the provisions of paragraph 2 of Article 21 (Government Service), pensions and other similar remuneration paid to a resident of a Contracting State in consideration of past employment shall be...

Re: Thailand plans to decriminalize cannabis

Chaos on the way. It will be impossible to enforce this; especially since so many parties including producers, processors, distributors and retailers have invested so much money in this venture. My wife has several clients who have made massive investments in the production of cannabis. They seem to...

Lotus's in Cha Am seems to keep a decent supply on hand.

Re: The Beer Thread 2

I'm happy to report that my local CJ here in Korat has completely run out of Tawandang IPA in spite of the fact that they received a massive shipment of Carabao and Tawandang beers just before the real Songkran (as opposed to Ung Ing's Songkran). I'm hoping this means that their beer is a success an...

Re: Thailand Air Quality and Pollution Alerts

There were two such fires in Cha Am this week. One, across from the ugly recycling shop lasted two days. The other, not far and in a field being cleared, was still going as we left this morning.

Re: The 90 Day Report Thread

I went to Australia last year in May and did the subsequent 90 Day report online. I just looked at the online receipt. I did the report, online, on July 11th last year.

Has the rule changed since then?

JIT Pochana Restaurant Permanently Closed

I guess I wasn't surprised to see that the Cha Am branch of JIT Pochana (จิตรโภชนา) is permanently closed. It opened about four years ago, after the original restaurant on the site (Alpaca?) closed. I suspect it was a bit upscale for the Cha Am crowd. We only went a few times; but always enjoyed the...

I agree. They keep well in the freezer and taste great when heated up a bit.
