Phuket news not getting local attention

Saw this in the Sun so it has to be true. Seems either missing or in the depths of the Bangkok Post.

Perhaps not the type of news they want to broadcast.

Re: Different Fuel Grades - How to Choose

Shell V power diesel is noticeably better in my car but I fill up with it once a month due to the price. The once a month change is better than not doing it and it only means taking the fifty percent price hit less frequently.

Re: Things That Wind Me Up Driving In Thailand

The tourists are the bigger hazard and perhaps it is partly due to the side of the road they use at home. Even the crazy Thai youths have grown up in a keep to the left environment. Foreigners from countries where they drive on the right will naturally react differently to locals. May be part of the...

Re: 2-Step verification/authentication (2FA)

In response to PeteC I am fortunately not on that area. I normally trade between Malaysia and China and use a Malaysian SIM as I get unfettered internet in China using that SIM for some reason. Still causes issues with 2FA which a VPN helps with but not always. You may have an IP in the country you ...

Re: 2-Step verification/authentication (2FA)

We are forced to use 2FA on a lot of things and while it is good in many ways there has been little consideration for those without a phone signal (workers on ships etc) or a poor internet connection (usually has a short time limit). As a seafarer I usually opt out but when forced to use it have to ...

Re: Snakes in the house and garden

Thanks Big Boy, I suspect that is what it is. The Thai family tend to view any snake as lethal even the golden tree snake. If it moves away I prefer to let it do so and get on with its life.

Re: Snakes in the house and garden

Two snakes sighted in our garden today, one this morning and again this evening. My nephew said the one that was killed this morning was a งูกะบะ which I think means a pit viper. About 70cm long and moved away when light shone on it. Brownish in colour with ringed circles along its length. This even...

Re: Health insurance required for all retirement visas?

My understanding is that if you get a retirement O visa outside of Thailand it is an OA and the insurance is required. If you get the retirement visa inside Thailand it is an O and does not require the insurance. Most but not all initially enter on the visa free exemption and get the O visa locally....

Re: Trip to Phuket overnight in Chumphon

I agree with Joelle. Nana Beach mid week early December was no issue. Beds are the Thai “Plank” type mattresses.
Southbound stayed at the Je Boutique hotel farther south. Near the road so some noise but nice place and attached cafe was good.

Buffet breakfasts

A friend and his Thai wife plus young daughter will stay in Hua Hin for a week soon and she likes buffet breakfasts. They will be staying between Hua Hin and Khao Takiab. Can anyone offer suggestions for places open to non residents with good buffets, reasonable prices and no large group tours, part...

Smart phones, not so smart operators

While phones are smart and digital payments the norm it seems that the general populace still has a way to go to catch up. It is very common to be held up while in the checkout queue by some pretty young thing who is probably an expert at photoshop or any of the beauty enhancing apps struggling to p...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

I notice that on my iPhone the weather app has a heavy rain warning for Hua Hin and it has been there for at least a month. I wonder if this is an app issue or the warning not being removed.

Re: The 90 Day Report Thread

So my 90 day report was submitted on Sunday and two days later on Tuesday evening I get the message telling me that staying longer than 90 days has been approved.
I used Chrome and no vpn without any problems. Thanks for the advice given by forum members, it will be a lot easier next time.

I will report back when I get a response. If none before Friday then I will schedule a visit in person to be on the safe side.
Thanks for the help folks.
