Re: Bye-bye Red-Bar & Tina Bar..
Bar previous to Red Bar was correctly Mondo, short for the owners name Raymond(o) Kite. Why I remember?? Used him as our golf contact for big groups (32 golfers) for some years until he blew me for 350 000 Baht. Think he left the country the day after and hoprfully neveer returned :cuss: Sorry for l...

Re: With green fees going through the roof, any way out?
A result of Thai logic? Bookings going down, so prices have to be raised to maintain revenue? There should definitely be price differences between the courses, based on quality. If B. Mountain can get away with 3 500, and P.Hills tries the same, it is off my itinerary. I bring a group of 32 golfers ...

Re: Exchanging Travelers Cheques is now a Major PITA!
Travellers cheques? Do they still exist? A VISA-card connected to a bank account anywhere in the world, will produce any local cash amount you need from all the ATM's you walk by. Travellers cheques, I'm told, cannot be sniffed by cash dogs at airports, and thus still popular in certain circles. And...

Re: Positive Experiences in Thailand
Diverted from another thread, I'll clarify my view. I have been going to Thailand for 39 years, mainly on business, the last 15 years also on holidays, and my experiences with Thais are exculsively positive. My humble point is that Immigration is your first impression of a new country. I always smil...

Re: POSITIVE EXPERIENCES & IMPRESSIONS IN THAILAND
Immigration at Swampy, can be a test of patience, as it is in many parts of the world. Countries spend millions of dollars promoting tourism. The first thing you meet in a new country is endless waiting, and a grumpy immigration officer who see you as a potential problem. What happened to a little p...

Re: UK-Phuket Dreamliner flights will begin one year from no
Norwegian are alternating destinations between Oslo and Stockholm. Cheap flights from UK (Gatwick) to OSL or ARN are freely available on their homepage, so why not take a peek? I am NOT working for them, but Norwegian is a very successful low-price airline, and one of the first to start intercontine...

Re: UK-Phuket Dreamliner flights will begin one year from no
Dreamliner flights directly from Oslo to Swampy are commencing June 1st by Norwegian Airline "Norwegian". Prices for return trip mainly in the range 450 to 550 Euro. Will certainly give Thai Airways a run for their money! They have been alone on the direct route OSL-BKK for some years now,...
