Re: Driver's license renewal

Is this a new (paid for) service by the police? As far as I know driving licences are renewed at the land transport dept in Pranburi. Aren't they? I've never needed a medical for renewal either. But you do have to do the eye and reaction tests. And sit through that so called safety video. Might be w...

Re: Bars, restaurants on Khunklong Road

Khan Khlong is the canal road. Also known as Chonlapratan (or Chonpratan) Road. All the sois are now numbered: e.g. Chonlapratan Soi 1. The numbering starts from the far north of Hua Hin and continues down to Pae Mai. Even numbers on the west side of the road. There are certainly shops, such as conv...

Re: Hua Hin Police Traffic Stops

The blue book is generally only for Thai registration of ownership and for Thai nationals who are registered at that address. Blue/Yellow books are not ownership registration documents but resident registration documents. They record, and prove, a resident's 'legal address' or 'official domicile'. ...

Re: The Digital Surgery

After 8 years it's probably time to treat yourself to a new laptop as Buksida has implied. However, you can check whether you have a problem with the laptop's graphics component by connecting to a tv or external monitor. If an external screen has no problem then it may be a problem with the laptop s...

Re: The Digital Surgery

Chrome is OK but I prefer firefox myself. One thing you can try is to set firefox back to its default state. Just type about:support in the address bar or go via help/troubleshooring information. This will display various bits of info, including prefernces that have been changed. There should also b...

Re: The Digital Surgery

Maybe check you don't have any forgotten proxy setting in Internet Explorer/Internet options/Connections/LAN Settings. If these are OK you could try using a different browser, if you haven't already done so.

Re: True Fiber Optic Broadband

The 200 baht column refers to the cable phone service - Fixed Line Plus. Special offer for DOCSIS Internet applicants. I'm not sure whether that's an extra 200 baht/month or that's how much free phone call you get included for the 899 baht.

**Closed** Discarding old VHS tapes **Closed**

I have about 100 VHS movie tapes (nothing risque) dating from early 90s to about 2005. They just take up too much room. Anybody interested? If so, you can collect the lot and sort them out at home at your leisure. If no one is interested I'll just give them to a salaeng (scavenger).

Re: True Fiber Optic Broadband

Agreed. Still, it's usually an indication that downloads are going to be slow. My initial point was that 3BB (or Triple T) seem to cheat on the speedtest results to other countries making it look good when it isn't. Anyhow, I look forward to reports from you on how good your next ISP is compared to ...

Re: True Fiber Optic Broadband

250 ms would be a little slow I think. Download and streaming speeds are what I'm interested in. I look forward to seeing how you do with a new ISP. googledotcodotuk is 70 ms ping just now.

Re: True Fiber Optic Broadband

Round trip to London is approx 19000 km. Even light could only do 12000 km in 40 ms in a vacuum. Quantum networking?
Can't trust speedtest here anymore I think. Just out of interest what result can you get? And what ISP?
Cheers.

Re: True Fiber Optic Broadband

Hi All, I'm new on here and this is my first real post on the forum. And I'm afraid it's a bit of a rant about 3BB. First, though, as the thread topic is True Fiber Optic Broadband, just for info, this week True have been around cabling up our soi in Smor Phrong area. And it might be tempting to swi...
