The Bank of England are expected to increase the base rate very shortly hence the better rate ie Increased rate means better for savers and hence more buying of Sterling.

Not so good for the majority with UK house mortgages

Good for the banks though that will quickly up their lending rates but are slow to increase their savings rates.

Impressed with the Wise savings rates. Recently went from 4.55% up to 4.78% on the USD account.
GBP currently at 4.12%.
Not available in Thailand unfortunately. Should have switched my account to the U.K. a long time ago.

Some good deals on savings offshore at the moment, Conister Bank and Skipton Bank paying 4.5-5.3% for fixed term accounts, if you can lock your money away.

Meanwhile, K-bank is offering a miserly 0.3% on regular savings accounts so those having to keep money locked in for retirement visas are actually seeing it devalued every year due to inflation.

The baht didn't drop the pound strengthened on the back of rising interest rates. A full 0.5% rise which was unexpected and now the UK has the highest rates in the G7.

As soon as rates start to fall the pound will return to slump levels due to the ongoing brexit fallout.

44.78 to the pound. Where's the drop.

1.27 dollars to the pound. Long time since we had figures like that.

The BofE was expected to increase interest rates tomorrow but with inflation and cost of living problems , it is expected that the increase will be a lot lower that was expected. Watch out for news at 6pm Thailand

I was watching out for this too

It was 5.25 as expected

5.5 couldn't have been ruled out though

Hoping savings rates will rise but many companies already priced it in

Need another rise really
